When you say hood do you mean engine cover or front trunk hood. There is a symbol on the dash that looks like the engine hood open but that's the f1 pump light. It also shows up if you have tail lights out.

Charlie, I believe it is actually the F1 Error light. It isn't specifically about the pump but indicates a transmission problem.

Sorry John My bad. I called it a pump light and you are correct it's a trans light. I have only seen it on my car when I put led bulbs in my taillights.

Yeah, it is the transmission fault light and it can illuminate for a variety of reasons such as what was stated above, faulty bonnet microswitch, relay issues, and pump cycling issues.

    Looks like your first post.

Common practice here is a quick introduction about yourself as a friendly gesture so that experienced and helpful people here will make time to try and help you with your car issues.

At any rate, my experience tells me it could be front storage compartment latch micro switch going bad, dirty engine bay closed sensor contact or relay going bad.

Thanks for the feedback This is my 3rd Ferrari previous ones being 308gts and 512bb These were much simpler machines. We did change the cam belts in the 512bb without removing the engine Not as familiar with the F430 and all its sensors.E diff slow down sensor occasionally appears also even though this has been worked on by Naples Motorsports.Car equipped with ceramic brakes and terrific sounding Fabspeed headers.
