You are on a ferrari board, yet insist on constantly disrespecting ferrari and it’s drivers. Yep, I’d say that’s trolling.

    https://www.planetf1.com/news/arrivabene-vettel-is-a-driver-not-team-boss/

Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene has said Sebastian Vettel had no say whatsoever in the Scuderia’s driver plans for the 2019 season.

Vettel stated repeatedly on record that he would have liked Kimi Raikkonen to remain as his team-mate at Ferrari next season and said he is “sad” to see him leave upon confirmation of the Finn’s exit.

Arrivabene was asked in Singapore whether Vettel was able to have any influence as to whether Raikkonen or Charles Leclerc would be his team-mate, but that is something the Scuderia boss categorically denied.

“No, not at all,” Arrivabene told Sky Sports. “Sebastian is our driver, and not a team principal.

“My job is to look at the overall situation and to discuss with my bosses and work towards a long-term plan.

“When we are talking about a long-term plan the decision is with the management and not with the driver.”

Arrivabene confirmed in Friday’s FIA press conference that the long-term plan included having Leclerc on a lengthy contract which currently runs to the end of the 2022 season.

He added: “Time is changing [in Formula 1] but the most important thing for us is that we keep our DNA.

“Gasly is now with Red Bull, McLaren have taken a rookie, people are looking toward the future now.”

Ultimately, if this article is true that Vettel was NO part of this decision then it’s true that Ferrari have decided to motivate Vettel and look to LeClerc as their long term future. If this article is not true then we know it’s the same ol’ Ferrari and Vettel had Kimi ousted in order to have a new little soldier to boss around. Time will tell....

I don't think Vettel was instrumental to Kimi leaving. They're genuine friends and they're great in the team together.

This all had to do with Marchionne signing Leclerc early as ''insurance''. If Leclerc is as good as we think he is, it'll backfire. They'll take points of each other constantly. Unless they somehow build by far the best car out there, which we know is rather unlikely, the drivers will just take points of each other and someone else will walk away with the title.

The length of the deal with Charles is interesting. Term to 2022. They may not need Vettel's input but they are certainly signaling him their intentions as a team and its driver lineup for the future. Seems the clock is ticking a bit.

Adrian Newey speaks about Vettel. For me its ok to feel pressure. The actions after you feel it matter. One has to rise to a challenge. Sure it helps if the environment is correct but Vettel's own errors are certainly a big part of Ferrari status in the title challenge this year.

I've been wondering that for a while.

The guy who leads the championship handsomely has such a thread but the guy who single handedly threw it away for Ferrari doesn't. Go figure.

    Not could; will.

Driver comparisons are not fully reliable but a matter of instinct, feel: Ricciardo beat Vettel when they were together at RB. Max is beating Ricciardo, Max and Charles more or less were even in karting and lower formulae it seems so....yes I believe Charles will put Vettel in a very tight spot...
Of course Leclerc will make some mistakes but I believe he will prevail.

It worked for Merc with Rosberg and Hamilton duking it out.
Depends whether the Ferrari has a slight margin over other cars.

After Singapore, Vettel is done for the year if not longer--you can see it on his face and hear it in his voice.

Felt very familiar to the year Ricciardo showed him up at RB...if Leclerc does the same to him next year, he's going to explode.

Another proof that you are trolling... you did not get the reactions you hoped for at the first time so why not post it again in the next thread. Absolutely no interest in any conversation, I do not get that the mods looked away that long...

Its just a picture of a tired driver after a very long and hot race. All looked liked this after Singapore.

The question is do we 'need' Vettel. No is the answer. As long as he makes the type of lead tossing mistakes, no. He alone has a large part of the issue for the last 2 years. He has shown a distinct pattern of making bad mistakes at the worst pressure filled times. Its not random on appearance. He needs to drive better. Management is not his problem. His reputation is very much negatively affected now. Red Bull titles were a long time ago. They really dont matter to me at all. The 'here and now' is showing us a very different driver who is not a pressure type performer.

Slight margin is not enough. Need a BIG margin that merc enjoyed. Only then can you let your teammates fight, winner takes all.

Exactly, it works as long as you know you will finish 1-2 anyway and nobody will come close. When apart from the Silver Arrows and the McLaren of Senna/Prost was this ever the case before? Neither Ferrari with Schumacher or RB with Vettel was that dominant that they finished 1-2 every race...

Agree with you. Except for the "management bit". Vettel himself has to "manage" too much, because pit wall/"strategists"/"management" are just incompetent. Loulou just has to jump in his car and drive.

I have been watching this game since the mid eighties and feel that Ferrari is creeping slowly but surely back to the abysmal depths of the early nineties as a team.

Spot on, the trolling by some "members" here is appalling

Vettel needed Dan at Ferrari so he could score some good points as a back up driver :p

Hamilton is a better driver than Vettel. Period. If Ferrari could get him, the should...and probably would. Vettel is garbage in the wet; Hamilton, like Schumi, a master.

Finishing second in the championship won't be such a bad result for Vettel if he manages to salvage that.
The championship was his at one point, but the accumulation of mistakes (him and the team) made it slip away.
Still, with 6 races to go, there is still everything to go for to close the gap, catch Hamilton, and perhaps ...
But maybe Vettel and the Scuderia are already mentally defeated .
