Considering the 488 is already a facelift of the 458, I am not sure they will expand the life of the platform for so long.
I’d love to see a mid-engined V12 model sitting above the 488 range but below a LaF. Modern-day 512 BBi. [emoji1362] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it’s very clear in this article. Two all-new mid-engine models coming soon https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a23300739/ferrari-new-mid-engine-car/
The UK. Seriously, I don't know a single super car owner under 45 with a Ferrari other than me. They all drive Maccas and Lambos.
from 2019 to 2022 Ferrari will build 15 new models and rumors say that there will be NO new Dino, I think that's means 488 successor will be offered in two versions: V6 and V8, maybe both or maybe only one will be hybrid
Shmee,Mr JWW and Seen Through Glass to name just the three most prominent Vloggers. All under 45 or alternatively ageing very well !
IMO the V6 hybrid turbo will be the 488 successor and the V8 hybrid will come in as a higher model My assumption is that the high cost of hybridization would be a factor plus the output on the V6 will exceed the current 488 by a good margin and make it a worthy successor
I really don't like this trend of two engine choices in the same body style. Sure you pay more for the V8 in a car that looks the same as the V6. Not really sure that works to be honest. Would be interesting to see if it has worked with the Lusso, suspect it hasn't.
I think the cars will share a platform but look very different and perform differently. I’m also speculating the “higher end” car will be $400k+ range typically optioned. This product portolfio is a bit like what macca is doing. The higher end car will be more of an alternative to the 812 series in power and cost.
The only YouTube vloggers who haven't inherited their wealth is Seen Through Glass and Doug. The rest are false with "jobs" yet they travel around the world posting adverts disguised as car reviews every day.
Some of those young folks drive Lambos because it's backed by VW Financial, so easy credit. With the way Ferrari is trying to take market share, give it time. Young folks prefer to be driven than drive.
They never said that they will look the same though. What they have said is that there will be a 488 replacement (focused on driving enjoyment) and a model above that one, offering supercar levels of performance. What kind of engines, or design, they will have is pure conjecture at this point in time. I am fancying something along the lines of 348-512.
There’s web chatter about two different wheel bases and two body styles and the V8 being more aggressive looking
Although over 45 (but under 50) I started driving Ferraris well before 45 and had my one Mac at 45 before going back to Ferrari. I know a number of people under 50 who drive Ferraris and all the Mac and Lamborghini drivers I know are comfortably over 50 (some very comfortably!). In general most people who can afford these cars are in the 45+ range anyway.
An interesting snippet. YTD registrations for Ferrari in the UK are 634 (last year this day 662). McLaren are at 498 (last year 327). At mid-September, which is the second biggest month due to reg plate period change, Ferrari are 66 and McLaren 7. Probably means McLaren are forcing the market a bit - registrations come at the end of the month as dealers push for bonuses etc. Ferrari’s pattern suggests a more ordered approach with cars being registered as they come through with customers having waited months/years. I’m pretty sure that McLaren don’t have three quarters of Ferrari’s demand given the strength of the Ferrari brand and more models with greater distinction. I suspect Mac are forcing the UK market and Ferrari are restraining it. If Ferrari hit 1,000 units here (seems about the sales pace) that is pretty strong given about 7-9,000 units globally. The McLaren figure looks too strong for the brand, at least to me.
