It's not often the missus hints she wants dinner out. Last night was one of those nights. We went to an FCA F1 watch party a few weeks ago, and the food was catered by a local Italian joint called Loveria. The wife said their lasagna was awesome (I didn't try any, I lost my appetite once Seb crashes out in the first lap. [emoji35]). So, we went to Loveria last night

This is for Ron/Streetsurfer. Chocolate cake made from chickpea flour! Tasted good.

I made beef dip last night. Used deli roast beef, it was ok, but not as good as using left over prime rib.

Did you make/have jus? Horseradish? In my experience, those can rescue a lot of beef sammiches.

I forgot, one of the best things about last night's dinner was the wine. A Sicilian white of all things. Went great with the two dishes we had.

Tonight, to compensate for last night's excesses and this Sunday's bbq excesses, it's a chef salad with boiled chicken breast and a homemade artichoke vinaigrette.

Love these pies. From The Village PieMaker. Frozen goodness! Mainly midwest and a few places carry them near big D.

Maybe I will try a chocolate chick pea cake, Tom. Thanks for the idea.

Had a late dinner last night. Chicken legs, portabella mushroom, mandarin oranges. Sauce was some wine (Hogue Gewürtztraminer), pom vinegar, olive oil, raisins, sage/rosemary/tarragon, ginger, lemon juice, lime salt.

    Happy Birthday Mom!
Hey wasn't your birthday also recent?

I was born on my mother's birthday. Crappiest present she ever got! [emoji23]

In anticipation of today's bbq excess, did tuna and steamed broccoli. Costco tuna was really fresh and tasty. Just a squirt of lemon.

Your welcome. When my wife ordered it, I recalled you used chickpea flour in a couple of recipes.

    Those drumsticks look awesome...T

Never seen that before. Cooked in oven? How'd they come out? It's my wife's favorite (only?) way to do pork chops, so I would think it should work well with a baby back rib...T

My birthday was on the 7th. Close to my mothers on the 15th. I bought some chicken cordon bleu's at Costco yesterday. Going to have that tonight with some rice.

Yes, cooked in the oven. I foil line a shallow cookie sheet then place them on a rack. Takes a little longer than a regular pork chop. When I buy a rack of baby back ribs I cut them apart and wrap them individually in Saran Wrap and freeze them. They thaw out fairly quick so it can make for a nice quick dinner. If your wife likes shake and bake I think she will like ribs made this way.

First stop on yesterday's BBQ run with arizonaitalian.

John Mueller's Black Box in Georgetown, Texas.

Left to right. Lean brisket, fatty brisket, sausage, jalapeño boudin, turkey.

Brisket was very good. Great oak smoke. Cool to see John continues the family tradition of cutting a few samples slices of brisket while you make up your mind.

Turkey was recommended by the cute young lady working the window of this trailer. It was good, but not the best poultry we had.

Boudin. Wiki it! It's typically the more controversial cuts of meat/innards, mixed with rice & made into a sausage. The heat from the jalapeño and the smoke really does nicely with what can often be a gamey food item.

More pics to follow as I slowly emerge from my meat coma!

Chicken soup on the simmer. Chicken breast, turnip, bell pepper, onion, celery. Herbs and spices. Needs a bit more time and water.

Last night was cheeseburgers at a local fast food chain. Called Triple O's. Their burgers are on sale Tuesday's. I do it most Tuesdays but its been about a month since the last time. They must be doing well, they opened a second location in my town. I did the new location.
