It appears to me that a few people may have joined fchat for reasons other than simply sharing the enthusiasm. Business networking comes to mind.

Do you notice that? If yes, do you think it will be fruitful?

Hard to say with such a vague post. You going to be specific or want people to go hunting around?

I have never once done business with a person I’ve met online - Ferrari owner or otherwise - unless I have also met them personally and come to know them very well. Anyone I’ve met online that immediately pitches me an idea (usually crypto garbage) gets immediately consigned to the junk folder or blocked

I feel exactly the same way too, so I was surprised to see it. I don't think it is a good idea to pinpoint who and where. I was just wondering if you have similar experiences.

Is there a LinkedIn FerrariChat or Ferrari Owners group?

If there is, that sounds like a better place to try to network with people for business benefit.

Do you think owning a Ferrari will really help the potential business partner see things differently to the advantage of the Ferrari owner?

I would assume it really depends on the profession and the context of how the car ownership is revealed...

Maybe a good place to network but otherwise it’s a great place to discuss a wide array of topics

I don’t think you could seriously use fchat for business unless you were really really careful what threads you viewed and commented in, and the content of those comments. It’s also pretty dangerous trying to judge people from their online presence.

On the other hand, from a personal point of view, I’ve made some good friends here, some of whom are just ‘online’, and some I’ve actually met in real life and enjoyed a few vodkas with. I find the forum full of great minds and some very nice people, plus of course, a number of donuts that mostly inhabit the f1 threads (and are usually spotted by the way they support mercedes on a ferrari site! Duh)

However, if someone here is trying to let people know that something he or she does for a living could benefit others here, and as long as they aren’t being pushy, aside from the fact rob may want them to sign up officially as a sponsor, why don’t they let us know what’s possible and how to get in touch? Heck, if someone here ha a money tree, and wants to invite me to buy a share, I’d like to think no one minds him letting us know!

Ive done business with members here, but that was never the reason for joining or participating. Just happened organically after knowing people online for years. I think you can definitely become friends with people you havent met in person.
