Amazing car in one of the best colors on the Countach form. What a find. Congrats to the lucky new owner!
What amazes me is the thought of how many cool cars there might still be out there yet to be discovered.
My thoughts exactly when I first saw images of this Downdraft, recalling how many times I had asked in this thread over the past 3 years if anyone knew its whereabouts.
Thank you Joe for the write-up. Indeed it was amazing to find this 100% original preserved Countach QV along with some other classic cars from the original owner. To find a Countach in this condition happens once in a life - every nut and bolt looks like new, the yellow zinc plated parts looks like a few days old. One of the reasons for this condtition is that the owner kept the car always in heated garage at around 23 degrees. The new owner will be very satisfied with this car.
The question is in which Region did this car stay all the time, since the Plates from 1987 are only temporary Export plates like the EE of Italy. Sounds to me like it was at a dealer and got sold to an owner outside switzerland. I've never seen it, but know from another Acapulco blue QV with old dash I don't have the VIN yet.
Yes, a very unique and nice car. Among other cars the owner had a silver Miura too which was for sale about four months ago.
What a find! Usually when I encounter original cars with the cadmium plating still visible, the mileage is really low. I'm curious how many kms? What an exceptional Countach!
Agreed, I think the new owner won't know what to do with himself when he gets it! Leo I must say you went above & beyond, your compassion & empathy with the widow made all the difference and we thank you for that, I enjoyed the process, and look forward to working with you a lot more in future. Actually the plates were actually issued June of 1986 (@ 2 weeks before the car was actually delivered, they held it @ the factory for Valentino to drive it in the AUTOVISIE article) good for one year (just like EE plates) through June of 1987, hence the June 1987 expiry dates. Supercool to have those with the car. And a Silver Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona. I think the gentleman liked Silver! An amazing find indeed, discoveries like this are we remain in this business and do what we do. GLA12005 has @ 10,900 miles/17,600 kilometers, barely run-in IMO. Actually Garage Ruf Ag sold it per the car's original documentation & warranty book, and they continued to maintain it for many years. Forgot to mention, it came with an extra set of wheels.

I didn’t see this in the thread, but a DD is for sale at Autosport Designs: http://www.autosportdesigns.com/inventory/stock/3275/lamborghini-countach-5000-quattrovalvole-downdraft-1986 No affiliation, just passing it along. No idea of the VIN. Mike
Here are some additional photos of GLA12005, when it was picked up from the first owner who kept it nothing less than 32 years. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For sure, one owner from new, never left that garage besides driven from there to the service center & back plus regular use, documented service history from day one to the present. The images posted leave something to be desired to be used to determine panel fit, in person, the car is immaculate & unblemished, clear to the eye if you have seen enough Countachs. The only anomalies are 2 easily removable small stickers of the service centers on the rear panel, and the license plate holder needs to be refinished where the adhesive plate has pulled off the paint, pretty common and a simple remedy.
