The thing is that Vettel’s failure to win with Ferrari despite the fact that they’ve given him a car capable of winning the championship in both 2017 AND 2018 shows how his skills were elevated by a superior team and how the GOAT Micheal Schumacher elevated the entire team with unrivaled skill both behind the wheel and in the garage with the cooperation of Brawn and Todt. Vettel will travel home with his tail between his legs having been beaten by a British man child that’s more interested in fashion, music, and celebrity more than racing.
As much as I dislike Hamilton, he does deserve this championship. Ferrari abs Vettel simply make too many mistakes and it easy to see that the loss of Sergio has had a profound effect on the team.
That great team started at Bennetton in 1991. Possibly the greatest organization in the history of F1.
CHorner said Ricci really doesn't talk to anyone on the team anymore. Must be quite a bit of bad blood there.
Hahaha!! Interviewer: What a recovery today, up to 4th place. DanRic: Arigato! Interviewer: Talk us through it. DanRic: Arigato! Interviewer: I don't speak Japanese, I'll need it in English... DanRic: Ah, sorry, sorry, thought you were fluent. Interviewer: Clearly you don't speak Japanese either. DanRic: Ah, sushi! --- Oh my god, I nearly died laughing. DanRic might just be my favourite person ever, and I'm not just talking about racing. A great driver and a great human being. No wonder Ferrari passed on him.
I've given a lot of flak to Vettel other times, but I think that this time he was not his fault: there was a gap and went for it. Verstappen didn't give room, but I wouldn't punish him either. Race incident. Vettel was also unlucky in that he spun. Anyway, the Mercedes looked a lot faster, so at best we would have got 2nd, that at this point is useless.
I understand why he tried as he is not in the position to wait to see what happens...But it did not work so he has to face the truth. Danner (in German television) said it best: if you know in advance that Max will not move over like the backmarkers do, then it does not make sense to go for that gap...but at the end it was a racing incident and he paid the bill for it
That translation is not spot on. The word I used was 外人. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaijin It has a slightly different connotation.
So the last few weeks have revealed Mercedes-Benz overtly using team orders to ensure a win for Hamilton whether he needed the help or not, continued pressure on Pirelli to supply tyres to meet Mercedes desires AND the use of a rear wheel drive system that was believed illegal. With that said, Ferrari fans are blaming Vettel for the loss of the 2018 WDC rather than Mercedes-Benz playing the game better, because we all know Vettel had it all over Hamilton mid season. Further, why can't Ferrari play the same game, making their #2 play the role Massa and Barichello played for Schumi or Bottas is playing for Hamilton and putting all their emphasis on setting up Vettels WDC run. Its too late now but lets not blame Vettel for Raikkonens unwillingness to play back up act and Ferrari's unwillingness to push the rules. If they aren't willing to match Mercedes with an all in strategy, Ferrari might as well give up and go race in Indycars or whatever.
Backmarker or not, a driver can't just slam the door when another car already has gotten in the inside line. If someone had to be punished for this, it would be Verstappen. I wouldn't do it because Vettel dive bombed late and yet I'm for leaving some leeway.
I used to be okay with reading train destinations, but it's been over forty years since I read any hiragana and katakana.
