Vettel was on a hiding to nothing, he goes for it knowing Maxine is unlikely to give any more space than absolutely minimum, or sit behind him possibly for the entire race and be vilified for not being aggressive enough...... at least he tried even if he ultimately failed, I can’t imagine many would have predicted he’d end up 19th if it went wrong, maybe dropped behind Kimi if he had to slam the anchors on, but the result was much more drastic than I think he would have gambled on

Too risky a move against Max. There is no guessing what Max will do. Seb made a mistake IMHO.

Ferrari and Vettel are both to blame for their failure. Vettel should be able to get into the car and not worry about some idiotic mechanic scratching the floor of the car on the jack or be terrified about the incompetence of the strategy team and by the same token Vettel should be able to tune out these difficulties and get on with driving to the best of his ability and he isn’t.

Ferrari should dump Seb and grab Fernando. It's a logical progression for Fernando. He's been at Renault twice. McLaren twice. One last go at Ferrari would round things out. AND you know he's chomping at the bit to stick it to LewHam.

I'm not sure why Ferrari even races anymore

It would be just cheaper to give Hamilton the checkered flag. One way or the other, they are doing the same thing.

Ferrari dumped Alonso for a reason. McLaren is dumping Alonso for a reason. No one wants Alonso for a reason....

He’d relish the opportunity and I feel certain he would have been able to get his third championship with this years car by a country mile, he wouldn’t make such desperate moves as Seb does

And somehow he's been at Minardi twice too: those McLarens were black and slow like the Minardis.

Vettel made a mistake. No question.

But its not why they lost today. They lost today because the Mercs qualify better almost every race, almost never break down, and never make a strategic mistake.

McLaren have been desperate to keep Alonso for years, they have sacrificed everything and made promises they had no chance of keeping just to have him on board. Don’t believe everything you read, Fernando of 2018 is not the Fernando of 2007, and even then, he had excuses.

Ferrari parted ways with him becuase they couldn’t provide him with the equipment he needed to win, and they felt Seb was an opportunity for the future they didn’t want to miss. While he was racing at ferrari, within the team his performances created lots of good feeling towards him, it was actually a mix of pressure from underperforming in the car department and sebs imminent arrival knowing neither Seb nor Alonso would play at being number two to the other that forced Alonso out, just as schumi went when Kimi, the supposed Next big thing, became available (which I didn’t agree with at all by the way, Michael was as good when he finished as when he was at his ‘prime’)

Mercedes is the best in every aspect just like Ferrari was year after in the past. There is always next year.
The Scuderia is losing, not the just the drivers.

I'm from Cleveland so I have thick skin when it comes to losing.

Ferrari dumped Kimi right after he put it on pole with the fastest ever lap of Monza.Since then it seems they are no longer functioning as a 'Team',maybe a coincidence , but i think it runs a lot deeper than that.

Since then Vettel has really been out on his own with spaghetti flying all over the place.Huge pressure on his shoulders and he just couldn't handle it,leading to a lot of unforced errors.

It a real shame because that Ferrari is fast ,very fast.

I've been in Las Vegas over thirty years. You should have seen it back then. The Mayor takes much more advantage of the Las Vegas Amenities than I do anymore. I stay out in the sticks now. I haven't been to the strip since Ferrari left the Wynn.

You’d be surprised, my first trip there was in the early 90’s, and I’ve been 70 or more visits since..... Love the place. My family has a bit of history with Vegas too, but less said the better I reckon!

If that’s your view out the window, I’m so jealous... it’s amazing really that you really can do anything you please, at pretty much any time of day or night.

The mayor is definately a role model for us all hehehe, what he doesn’t rate you may as well avoid also! I’ve met quite a few fchatters there already, so next time I’m in town, I’ll let you know and if you’re free for a coffee be good to meet someone else. I’m not the nutty fanatic (well. Not quite) that I appear in the f1 section most of the time! If I was, I’d probably be in Clark county correctional every trip!

What a depressing race. It was like Ferrari showcased all the reasons why they are no hopers this season, next season and for ever more until the monkeys of management and strategy are replaced by genuine humans. Yet another embarrassment.

Merc imperious again - and by a country mile. Redbull did well too - surprised by that.

Time to focus on 2019. But seriously, there is no point ferrari talking about concentrating on next years car when the tech department is the only one that’s actually doing its job. Mr Bean could manage that team better than Arrivabadly.
