When I ordered my GT 3 I decided to try the Porsche Atlanta delivery .. I live about 600 miles from Atlanta and
drove the car home... I wanted to say that delivery experience is really nice package . I chose the 9:00 slot they only do two vehicles a day and mine is the 664th delivery they have done... It was first class all the way . It starts with an email from them once the car is built asking some basic questions about my likes and dislikes and my Porsche history.. Then once the car is shipped they send some delivery dates to choose from and a package arrives with a very nice portfolio ....and the new window sticker..
Once in Atlanta they have a new Solis hotel that is connected to the property they picked me up at the airport in a new Porsche Panamera and I stayed in a very nice suite overlooking the track ....
The next morning I walked over and they did everything to make it a very special day from a highly detailed delivery with the car covered in a showroom they do a nice unveiling and shoot a bunch of pictures with their photographer.....and give a nice instructions on how to work things
Now the real fun starts a full 90 minutes on their track with a GT3 in my case they took me first in a PDK then in a manual since mine is a manual....
Let me say 90 minutes is pretty intense they have a slick surface with a kick plate that throws the car into a tailspin on a wet slick surface ... and it goes on from there for 90 minutes...on the track ...
Finish the day off with a very nice lunch in the dining room which was a very nice meal....

This was well worth the expense if so inclined...
The next day I broke my GT3T in by driving 650 miles home .. great couple of days...
By the way the sound of that 4.0 NA engine at 9000 rpm ... is hard to beat....
In fact the car is filled with great engine and road sounds the entire drive home..and to top it off this manual transmission NA 4 liter street/track car got 22 miles per gallon during the 650 mile drive not bad...

Hmm, so there's no break-in period for that engine... not 'keep the revs down" stuff?

I took it easy the first 500 miles ... which I had on it by noon and during the same time I alternated between 5th gear and 6 gear to vary the RPM.. (around 3000 or around 4000) .. ...after 500 miles I played with higher rpms......
by the last 75 miles or so I had several opportunities to run her up and have done so since then.....sounds great...9000 rpm really is very cool IMHO....
also the car has a 13.3 to 1 compression ratio which gives it that crisp sound unlike any low compression engine

I promise you will love the car.. It is incredible.. love the sound and feel.also like the lack of a fixed wing .. yet the movable flap gets pretty big and is set up to give a ram air effect it even has openings cut into the Air filter plenum that result in two openings at the base of the wing which creates an air dam.. and this is one of the sounds you will hear at speed.

Congrats Larry! That's the only 911 variant that I have had an interest in since the last of the air cooled cars in 1998. Would love to see some pics of your spec.

For sure. I have a .1 gt3, and .2 3rs on the way too, but the touring is the only one I really am excited about. I'm not a wing person either, and never drive my 3 or 7.2 RS on the street because of that. Mine finished up about a month early, so hopefully I get to enjoy it before our first freezes.

Sounds nice my dealer offered a 3rs which have been ready about the same time but he wanted me to give up the gt3touring for it ..I turned it down and am glad i did....
I really wanted the 911R but could not get it unless on the resale market ..So when i heard the touring might happen i jumped on the chance to get it...

    Larry,

Congratulations! That’s the one I’d get! What color combo? Any photos?

Can you imagine if Ferrari built special “Stradale” versions of their scuderia versions with manual boxes? I don’t think Ferrari would be prepared for the reception it would get!

Thanks. what i would really like to see is Ferrari come up with a new DINO like car mid engine 500hp NA engine with a 9000 rpm and of course manual transmission. I would even be good with 450HP along as it is a high compression NA High revving engine... they would sell the heck out of it and it would not compete with any of the other cars they build ...
but then again Porsche has done great with this car..
