Compared to the penalties one gets when changing a gearbox or only the drawers the stewards have been too lenient with anybody.... They can do whatever they want and when someone is injured they all cry for new safety regulations...

That works as long as he makes many fewer mistakes and has a car that is capable.

I can't see that myself, but I may be wrong, of course.

Max doesn't have the full package as a WDC, IMO; he has the speed, but lacks the rest.

Does anyone know why Field Marshal Connelly seems to have a burr up his butt regarding Max?

Considering the number of incidents Max has been in! The common denominator is Max!

Max is doing more with his car than Vettel is with his. Max is driven by ambition, Hamilton is driven by inspiration. Vettel has neither working for him and has run out of gas. He and Ferrari will go through the motions but they have already shut the book on this season and now will just try to save face. Ferrari, as a team, does not have the leadership to win. They can build a winning car, but they can't build a winning season. I think Max will be in the top three for the WDC next year, with a very realistic chance to be number 2, and maybe if the cards fall his way, even win it.

Max's fate is linked with Red Bull, and mostly Honda.
I cannot see Honda becoming the best engine, somehow.
I expect for some frustration in the Red Bull camp.

7 podiums so far this season with a slow and fussy PU.

Not yet. But it doesn't really matter does it. He's competitive and loves the game

There have been some races where Max seems to be showing a bit more maturity, but then a race comes and he is back to the old Max again. I found it very amusing when he was being interviewed by a reporter about an incident, and Max said he gave him room. When pressed a little harder, Max then said he could have given a bit more room. Guess what, Max? The difference between giving room, and not giving quite enough room is an incident or a crash.

He has a disturbing blend of talent, arrogance, and entitlement in him. He fully believes he is entitled to every corner he is battling for, and every other driver has to give in to him.

He is a racer, and his heart is in it, so that's good.
The problem is to avoid the mistakes and translate that speed into regular results
If you remember Scheckter when he burst into F1, Max is the same.
Scheckter matured: let's hope Verstappen can do the same.

    Indeed, he lacks a Mercedes.

He's the best driver on the grid.

    The pic doesn't say much.

Besides they are prof. racing drivers bobzdar, this is not a club race on a nice mid summer evening.

Ferrari made more than enough mistakes this season, Vettel included. I hope they have a very big mirror at Maranello.

A GP2 grid, maybe. Did you just start following F1? Only a newbie would say something like that.

LMAO..........are you actually comparing Max to Schumey and Senna? For real? Wow. Just wow.

    Subjective comment.

Max mostly lacks something between his ears when he acts like an impulsive teenager who doesn't think ahead.

He is not composed enough to bring regular performances and bag a WDC, IMO.

Prost, Senna, Schumacher all drove people off track. Schumacher brake tested multiple drivers.

Verstappen is a saint in comparison.

Sounds more like Vettel these past races.

Max has been driving faultles since Monaco in a sub par car, outdriving Ricciardo.

Let's not forget that Ham is driving a car that's just in a different league.

You can't even compare it. Ham doesn't have and doesn't get any competition for 5 years in a row now.

    Well apart from Rosberg ofcourse.

Yeah Max was clearly in the wrong when he pushed Kimi off. That was drop dead dumb. No, he wasn't forced or carried across the racing line to get into Kimi's way/car.

Seb on the other hand was drop dead dumb for forcing a pass when he already had the penalty working in his favor against Max. Why crash in spoon when you can out drag him on the long hill? Isn't there DRS there too? edit... no there isnt'! Only detection for the one zone on the front straight.

Somehow it was OK for MB to burn oil all last year but when SF splits the battery and innovates around the regulations, Lewis gets to call it "tricks" and the FIA pulls the pin on the SF season. Still, Seb had been making mistakes. Max is good, he just needs to cut the juvenile crap. Seb needs to exercise his elderly "wisdom." ;)

How can you say that with a straight face when only in the last GP, he was involved in contact with 2 Ferraris during the race, and incurred a 5s penalty ?

Max is bumping into other cars too regularly.

Well, the Kimi incident was def. Max's mistake. Vettel though was just too eager, or too immature, as others might put it.

No, not really. Yes. he made his mistakes early into the season.

But it's hardly relevant given the subpar car.
