Hello I am reaching out on the forums because I can’t seem to catch a break with my 360 Modena.

Initial problem car would jump out of gear and into neutral for no reason. The problem increased - car would fall into neutral - neutral light would flash and red triangle of death would come on. Car would be unable to shift into any gear leaving me stranded.

Brought car to mechanic. Mechanic put in new clutch. Seemed to solve problem but after driving car for 15 minutes it happened again. Stuck car towed back to shop.

Mechanic recommended changing the rear harness. New harness installed yet did not fix car.

Mechanic recommended installing new Solenoid on F1. Mechanic installed new solenoid on F1. Problem not solved.

Mechanic now says to install entire new F1 system. Of course mechanic will not commit that it will fix car.

Feeling stuck and looking for any advice. Thanks everyone

I heard a similar issue somewhere with a similar problem where it was something simple like a brake light bulb or switch that confused the car into thinking it was meant to be doing something else.

Diagnosis by part swapping is always going to be expensive. It needs a tech with a good understanding of the system and the right equipment. It’s unlikely you’ll get any proper help on here other than perhaps a recommendation of a good place.

So the real question that your mechanic should have asked is "*why* the car is jumping out of gear?"

The car jumps out of gear for 2 reasons.. 1: there is a really serious issue with the gears in the transmission and the transmission is seriously ****ed up. Some manual transmissions that have been abused will pop out of gear. Since the computer and hydraulics do the shifting.. it's hard to screw up the internals. 2. the car will shift into neutral because the computer senses something is wrong and takes the car out of gear.
    Which is it?

If the car is being taken out of gear by the computer. This can happen because the clutch wear reading is too low. The key is you need to find out why the car thinks is wrong. For this you NEED an SD2 scanner. If it was done can you share the readout? Have you replaced the brake switch btw? Many times will leave owners stranded with a car that refuses to go into gear. What is resistance at the F1 pump? Any leaks from the solenoids?

I agree with what's been said before, it sounds like your biggest problem is not the car but your mechanic. He should really should be checking the settings for the pis, clutch closed and open settings, any of the error codes on the ecu or tcu with an SD 2 or SD3.

The transmission control unit I found can do funny things as well if it's not operating correctly, but again you need the SD tool to interface and check the codes that it's been storing.

How close (or far!) is your nearest authorized Ferrari service dealer?

Car is at the dealer. Thats why I’m reaching out for any ideas. Nothing against dealer I do believe they are working in good faith they just haven’t been able to nail down the issue. Perhaps another opinion is needed. Any recommendations for a good Ferrari mechanic in the Broward County Fort Lauderdale area?

    Lemme Guess.. The Collection?

One good guy I know down there who did the PPI on my 360 when I bought it was Murray Bacchus in Hollywood,FL. Not sure if he has an SD2.. but he might be able to give you some direction if needed.

NLA. The guy who used to sell them hasn't logged into f-chat since 2016, and some of the parts in the kit are now only available from salvage cars.

Is the mechanic at your dealer a Certified Master Mechanic by Ferrari? How much experience does he have? This isn't the most uncommon problem to have.

Pump has low pressure, computer senses it and shuts down the transmission for preservation. Also, your mechanic is bleeding you

Reset the battery for 24 hours. This will cure it.

Yeah it won't cure it... this is pretty poor advice. Disconnecting the battery merely hides a problem temporarily, if at all.

There are many causes for this error, it's the transmission deliberately going into self protection mode as it's sensed a fault. Only a Ferrari scan tool will find the error code as it's stored in the transmission TCU not the engine ECU. Could be sensors, actuators, hydro pressure, hoses, fluid level, TCU error, clutch wear, bearing position error, electrical fault, etc etc etc. Who want's to replace all those parts just in case until the culprit is randomly found? Part swapping usually indicates an uniformed technician who can't diagnose. Find an expert and get the job done properly.

I find 2 fingers deep of a good burbon, a large square ice cube served in a crystal glass work just as effectively...

And a reminder that these systems ( Ferrari electronics etc) are often sensitive to power quality and strength, make sure you have a good and strong battery too. Many sensors do wear out, as they are basically potentiometers such as gear position senders. These potentiometer based sensors get noisy over time and eventually confuse f1 system. Other Hall effect sensors are less likely to fail, but they do from time to time. Such as wheel speed sensors, which if faulty, TCU would not be able to function correctly.

Did they replace the clutch position sensor when they did the clutch?
