    He doesn't need to. He has a gap (or will have once the stops are done) and needs to stay ahead, so much easier to keep the gap.

    So Hamilton's tyres were10 laps older than Raikkonen's but now Raikkonen needs to make his last another 18 laps - 8 more than Hamilton managed...

    And Hamilton only has 10 secs to make up.
