Not a few weeks later when you have no evidence. You don’t seem to have much familiarity with how the real world works. Matt
A police officer came but didn’t file a formal police report. He just helped us exchange information.
It would seem that this is the problem. As Matt said....the time for the police to take action has passed. I can't imagine someone hitting my one of my cars without having a police report citing the circumstances and capturing the insurance, registration and contact details. In most States, there is a threshold of damage and/or injury that also triggers a citation.
I know here driving with no insurance is as bad as driving without a license, you get arrested and are required to appear before a judge. Also the bad thing is if you are on private property the police refuse to make a police report unless it is DUI, uninsured motorist, or driving without a licenece. Sounds like something odd there if the kid who hit you had no insurance but no report was done. And as others have said now it’s way too late to do much about it except chalk it up to a lesson learned. A word to the wise for everyone, there are lots of folks driving around with no insurance. Uninsured motorist insurance is almost the only way you will recover most losses.

Yeah I realize that, however given the opposite party had no insurance it’s odd that given he would have been at least cited there should have been a report. Unless the officer didn’t cite the kid for no insurance than I could see there not being a report on private property. It just sounds odd to me is all I’m getting at.
