I agree, and the volume is at one end of the stretch. Thats why a FE car for the old guys and a Me car for the young, or young at heart makes sense.

They're trying the same thing with the F35, maybe a trillion dollars makes it work though.

But, that's what the Corvette has always been, and I don't see that changing.

I believe the F-35 has a problem, if it enters a furball with another fighter plane. The rear visibility is lacking to some degree.

A 3,000 pound car with a manual box and NA motor would be nice. It does not have to have a 220 mph top speed.

I agree that the car has way too much real estate above the wheel openings. Like the 360 & 430. The hope will be that this area will be sculpted and have a lot of horizontal area. The real car will come with the higher performance derivatives in a couple of years.

Side thought: No matter how great or popular the ME Vette may be, if the C7 is the last of the traditional FE cars then certain versions are going to be very valuable in 20+ years.

Right, and when you order your C7, make sure to order it with some really odd combination of options and colors so the Barrett Jackson guys can scream about a mass produced car being 1 of 1 in that configuration.

In all seriousness I bet the most valuable ones will be those set up for the track but with no track miles. Funny and true !

The ZR1 will be king in terms of collectability. Followed by the Z06, Grand Sport, and then finally the base model. I think having a manual gearbox and higher-end options will be key.

They made a lot of ZR1's thought didnt they ? Im wondering if one of the more obscure will be the most valuable like the Yenko Camaro

No, not really. They're "rare" for a Corvette. I could be wrong, and someone most certainly tell me if I am, but I don't think the modified Vettes hold any long term value. I don't think there is anything comparable to a Yenko anymore.

IMO, best case, the C7 ZR1 will be 2,000 units produced. They haven't produced 1,000 yet (production started in March)

The C7 ZR1 will be the keeper if they keep it to a one year run like rumors suggest.

Seems like the car I ordered was pretty rare. They even dropped the color. I guess people didn't want to pay $1500 for the metallic red paint

I believe they built just one 2015 silver Z-28 without A.C.

I have followed the ZR1 pretty close and find it surprising and sad that the majority of them are coming with auto and in that orange paint. I attribute this to dealers ordering them this way in lieu of customers ordering them this way since there aren't many out there still. A rare one would be a convertible with manual and in admiral blue which they have now dropped. That would be a stunning car combo. Oh yeah, with red calipers and satin finished wheels. No chrome or black.

My experience is dealers don't get many cars so they only order what they think they can sell quickly. So, they go for the most obvious. I ordered one and did factory delivery but that is really rare. No dealer had a car I wanted (convertible with the upgraded interior with metallic color and a manual box in Zr1)

Once the new Auto 8 came out in the second year of production manual boxes dropped like crazy. The first year was the standard slush box. The auto 8 was GM's answer to the DCT at a lower cost and technology they were more comfortable with.

I think you mean the Z51 (handling package), right? The ZR1 is the 755hp monster.
