In my 1999 Berlinetta, when I turn the key, there’s a humming noise which sounds like something is getting filled up. Used to take about 15 seconds, now it’s a little over 20 seconds. Does this sound like a developing problem, as in the F1 pump, or is it something else? If so, where and how do I diagnose it? I’m not sensing any issues with F1 pedal shifting, though.
Thank you all for your help.

It's the F1 pump priming. Normal.

I had a quick look, but couldn't find any pump times, Grant.

What time frame are we talking about here? In a matter of months? Since new?

    There isnt in the manuals
I would say normal pump times from my experi nce are below 20 seconds.

I usually have not stop watched them but rather counted the flashes of the tranny icon.

This is not all ways accurate because sometimes you get a definate outlier

Mine was flashing (from memory) 13 times or less for years with no f1 troubles.

Once it got over 15 i started to have motor problems which were the motor getting hot and not working. This usually happen while stopped or parked likely due to heat soak once no more air was flowing. My temp solution was to pour water on the motor and then it worked and got me home.

Once I replaced the motor only it went back down to about 7 flashes.
Keep in mind a worn accumulator will cause a similar issue with times d likely cause a motor failure even faster.

In this instance for the op I would do what I did and check the current running through the motor and monitor the amps.

His problem could easily be an accumulator if the change has happned over a very short time.

Others can chime in but for motors my experience is generally they slowly get worse, but an accumulator problem will very quickly show up in increased pump times.
    Again just my experience
