Post # 133. For engaging in political rivalry and posting up negative trump material. Inappropriate and OT. Glad the mods pulled it up. There are other places to go to hit one another over the head over one's political preferences.
Willingly I did and will do so again. Appreciate your kind words. Mods should not have removed the post. Ban me for life, but disappointing to call out truth and have it removed.
They made the right call. A car forum is not the right place to push political barrows. Each side are entitled to their opinion but votes decide the winner - end of story. The rest is history. Now back to cars please.
Yeah but they will sing the same tune to you.....and so it continues on indefinitely until the next vote. Agree on Pista! Ps glad to hear you and family are safe. Without rivalry it would get boring here.
I guess you have to read about them given your not around these cars. FACT : My 488 GTB , yes I have one , was in to get Xpel done. 720 also at the same shop. Poorly fitting panels. Stuck rear spoiler ( missing bolts ) And boy oh boy its as if they had a bucket of nuts and screws all different shapes, sizes , with washers etc and indiscriminately just put in what fit. Also the car had to be trailered back to the dealer because even though they put a new battery at the shop she wouldn't start.
I remember in the early 80's you knew how hot it was by the number of Jaguars on the road side overheated
Maybe a unique situation as my 720 is every bit as tight and clean as my 488. I see no difference in build quality between the two.
You're still in the honeymoon phase. Talk to us 6/12 months in after taking it on some long stiff hard drives. And I want to see some serious roadrash on the outer edges of those tires!!
Dare say you have been lucky so far. I hope its the case for you. However the detailer showed me all the issues with the car, pretty disheartening to say the least. Thing is he has seen it all before and he has the moral dilemma whether to tell the owner or not. Where I am the same dealer has all 3 brands Ferrari , Mac , Lambo and many others . They are literally next door to each other. For ****s and giggles I have the easy opportunity to see the other brands and when you see a Mac in the showroom floor with issues you really do have to wonder.
I can’t comment on every car. I can comment on the ones I’ve seen. Two good friends have 720s with no issues. Mine has no issues. As I stated I see no difference in build quality between the 488 and the 720 but I actually own both cars so what the hell do I know.
I use to think like this, then decided to expand my car brand portfolio beyond one brand and kool-aid. When I did, I started to see all of the good and not so good in ALL brands. Don't get me started on all of my 458 issues, costs, etc--but I still miss it. Have owned, Lambo (have Performante on order as well), Ferrari, Porsche (3RS 16 and 19 just hit), etc....and yes I'm looking at a 720 currently. I think once I pulled my head out of the sand of one particular brand, I really started to enjoy cars more in general..and bought many more as well. I say own it, drive it then draw conclusions.
Agree in general but a lot comes down to how and where you drive a car and so many of these high end exotics don't go past the end of the street. You only need to look at the odos 12 months on to arrive at that conclusion. Re Mandalay's report on the use of mismatched bolts it's interesting to hear that because that's exactly what my clear wrap installer found with an orange 720 which was sitting right next to my 488. I was looking over the car from the outside commenting how well the car was finished paint-wise when he told me don't be fooled by the exterior - he'd never seen such a bucket of bolts like it in his life - was horrified - with so many mismatched odd bolts and screws everywhere, some loose even, some missing washers etc. He also mentioned how the owner had said a few bits had falling off from the car already which had been put inside the cabin awaiting the dealer to sort out when the car went back. The owner apparently only bought it to get 720lt allocation o was planning to offload it so I doubt it would have seen many miles put on it like most of them you see back up for sale.
Good lord man. Just stop. You are now just writing complete nonsense. Bucket of bolts? Bits and pieces falling off. Seriously- you have officially jumped the shark now. Ferrari is a great brand. Mclaren is also doing some great things. It’s possibel to have 2 good brands. It’s not an either or.
Again, all brands in general on exotics have low milage on secondary--have you seen how many 488's out there with sub 500 miles. Anyways, I'll skip the back and forth with you based upon other replies. Try buying some other brands sometime and enjoy life. It's not all about any one brand...and I like them all--and owned them all (well except Mac and I'm about to change that). Good stuff and life is way too short.
Agree some things are hard to overlook. Some guys it doesnt matter so long as it looks good from the outside If you think it's nonsense I'll PM you his phone number so you give him a call. No skin off my nose. Those were the words he used so take it up with him. I dare you to call him.
No arguments there with most of the 488's - most barely get used. And ive already said im not a one brand guy - own multiple brands - nor closed to others I havent yet - just calling it for how it is from what I've personally experienced and from friends who own. You can shoot the messenger down all you like but it wont change reality. If it helps, maybe there are some out there put together different. Maybe it was just a bad batch? Who knows. And don't worry my friend - i'm definitely enjoying life to the max!
I guess that's where we differ...I draw my own conclusions based upon fact, not what 'friends' say. And reality is reserved for those who have experienced. Hey I use to think the same about Mac in many ways, but I know a half dozen owners and none have any more or less issues than other brands they own. At the end of the day no one is going to change your mind, so I won't try. I'm out of the the hating this brand or that brand discussion. Best.
It is all true, my car didnt have any bolts at all so that guy was lucky. In fact parts started flying off in the 4th month, now I am just left with the cabin and engine. Kind of cool actually. My wheels stayed on though and the paint didnt fade and no ripples in the bumper. Oops, I dont have a bumper anymore. Its all true, how do they keep selling cars like this?
I'm not saying dont buy a 720 at all. There are many choices out there today and that is great! My point is the odds of a Mac breaking or letting you down is greater than most - based purely upon what ive seen with my own eyes - and at my own hands (2 out of 3 ain't bad as they say) - and, from friends who have owned and still own. Sure Ive heard many others say that too which ive heard opine on the matter of which is the less reliable of the bunch but I won't bother with those as everyone has a story to tell as you say and it may be tainted. To me its simply a case of buy and be prepared. No sweat! And Gh can make fun all he likes but he wouldn''t have the balls to call the guy as he will blow a fuse when hears it for himself. His whole world world may fall apart.
From his postings; he seems to be on his first exotic car (488, no mclaren, no lamborghini history). We've all been there when we bought our first exotic. Very proud of it; defensive of any criticisim, etc. Eventually everyone grows out of it and see these cars for what they are (cars). They think they have cover saying whatever they want about other brands because we are on fchat... what they don't seem to understand is that many people who own these cars on this forum own or have owned multiple exotics from the different manufactures. They just don' t bother to get into this banter.
