This "assault" is completely blown out of proportion. I do not want to defend its happening itsrlf but in a few pages this will become "attempt murderer"...with the word jail already mentioned I guess we are not far away.
Bad role model for kids??? In what world do you live when you think that on the school yard everything was coming up roses until evil uncle Max taught them how to push others around...

Verstappen is a good driver who has made many mistakes over his career. More than ocon.
To me ocon is at fault but then again was faster than max.
Max is extremely arrogant, acts like an entitled brat and im glad he got a dose of his own medicine on that one... Ocon at fault yes...but on super soft verstappen had to let him go.

    It is absolutely irrelevant.

It is quite mind boggling how you Max-defenders seek things to defend your beloved brat. There seems to be no limit to what you guys will cling to. Rather pathetic, actually.

It's not just here on FChat but have you watched the grandstands in some of the races??? Depending on the venue you either see a sea of orange or pockets of orange fans. He sells merchandise.

BTW, the Netherlands will get F1 in 2019 to view on TV or whatever platform they choose.

    PLUS

Zaandvort looks to make a return in the F1 calender. Just like a sea of red at Monza, Zaandvort will be a sea of orange.

    All thanks to Liberty.

I'm not sayin you have to like the guy because that's your prerogative but he has quite the following.;)

MV has generated big box office at the circuit gates in the same way Mansell did.

He also generates column inches across the media.

Like him or not, he has balls and stubborness on a par with Mansell.

People who easily get their knickers in a twist about his single-mindedness had better find some understanding, or switch channels :D

And so what? Are we supposed to fall Under the spell of a bully just because of the box office, his popularity or the press coverage ?

It's a rather pathetic argument, to tell you the truth.

If you like unsporting behaviour, that's your choice, but at least let the others to keep their opinion without insulting them.

    "Unsporting behaviour" is subjective.
The rules of racing are not.
Ocon was found to be in the wrong on Max.

Ocon and Max have some legacy beef so it's hardly suprising.

Hopefully Max learned his lesson of pushing or closing out other drivers. The cost this time: an F1 win. He could have stayed away from Ocon and gone on to win. His cost: suppression of his hubris to teach Ocon a lesson that he is faster.

Unsporting behaviour unfortunately is rife in all walks of life and should be eradicated - even here, when people have got into spats, they have published posters' home addresses in a public forum, claiming they don't have a Ferrari and are liars blah blah blah...they've even created false accounts to go further, Surely they can't put their head in the sand and refer to the "good old days" when the damage they inflict is probably more than a shove between 2 people who weigh less than most women ?

    Food for thought.

    Best,
    Sammy

The unsupporting behaviour I had in mind was the pathetic demonstration from the Young Dutch after the race.

As for the race incident, the stewards found Ocon guilty, and that's OK with me.

But guess who lost out for not accepting being passed when it was of no consequence to his position: Verstappen !!!

If you want to know about Max Verstappen's attitude on the track, have a look at this:

It indeed shows some bad but also nice moments. To be fair we can make a similar video of Schumacher as he behaved in quite some races also the same way. This year however (after Monaco) Max made hardly any mistake. He is on a steep way to the top and let’s be fair, after Hamilton a big relieve imo....

    Ciao

Just because unsporting behavior can be found in all walks of life, does that somehow make it acceptable?

Max crossed a line when he laid his hands on Ocon, be it a simple shove or a right hook to the face, it doesn't matter - the line was crossed.

The FIA clarifies its position regarding the Verstappen/Ocon post race clash in Brazil.

No need for further Verstappen/Ocon talks.

I'm sorry, did I upset you because I used capital letters? Was it because I reacted to reading the same irrelevant argument once again?

You are free to post whatever opinion you like. Should we not respond to anyone else's posts now?

The same irrelevant argument?, says the guy with many many posts on that very irrelevant argument? I’m entitled to post, and did so, and in fact, have restricted myself to just a couple of posts on the matter over days while many people seem to be completely obsessed with the subject. You can always put me on ignore, it’s easy. Quite why you have to try to single me out out of all those posting a differing opinion to you is strange, do you have some kind of issue with me? As I don’t know you, and can’t think of a single time I’ve singled you out in any way, I find it hard to understand why you’d feel so angry at me?

To put max and Ocon in perspective, if someone slapped me like a girl, I’d have at the very least hit them back hard enough to rattle their teeth, so I find their set too disturbingly lame, like two puppies fighting over a loo roll..., or a couple girls in the Black Friday sales fighting over the same cut price blouse.... they aren’t assaulting each other, they are providing a poor example to alpha males across the world.... ;)

Subjective? Read the FIA rules. He was punished. His type of physical contact post race is defintely regulated.

And Max found in the wrong both strategically during the race, as noted by LH, and by the FIA on his Ocon situation at the scales after the race. Ocon as flawed as his move might have been, did a nice job of exposing Max and his lack of tactical/strategic driving. Hopefully he will unlock his brain and gain a touch of racing wisdom for the future.

Max stating he did not see Ocon is right there with most of Horner's lies and idiocy. Ocon was penalized but in the larger scheme a loss of the lead was utterly preventable and Max knows that, hence is anger. He is utterly predictable as a personality. Makes a bad move = anger = someone else at fault. Take out said anger on others/make silly statements to media again and again and again and again and again...................He's becoming boring. How many more tantrums does the sport need this year from him LOL. He is no longer entertaining in that manner.

He's not curing cancer or anything at all of note. He drives a car. Zero worship to any F1 driver....none. They are not at all hero's on any scale. There are great examples of 'alpha' males all around. Max is not at all 1 of them. He's a child. Maybe age 15 on a good day currently. An astute, mature beyond his years with skill and talent is Charles Leclerc. Max would do well to work more like Charles. Glad he is coming to the red team!

Max is the type of person that would be exceedingly easy to get under his skin and stay there. Someone who would always come out on the losing end of mind games.
