Hmmm....looks like you decided to head to Mac forum to post some thoughts? Is this you?

Have you seen 488 resale values lately? $375 stickers going for $240. Oh....might want to check those. Impossible on Performante--show me a Performante for $90k off...I'll be here waiting.

It's always fun to make stuff up out of the air and make it seem like fact on the internet.

I think you're being over sensitive. If you keep his post in the context of the thread (i.e Pista qualifying demands) he is spot on actually. Also, the 488 is not a Pista.....was produced in larger numbers.

No his facts are not facts.

Not going to go round and round with you as I learned long ago not to argue with my 12 year old niece, and based upon your many replies, I see the same patten.

I'll be here when you show me a Performante for $90K off--those are his 'facts'.

So is it better to lose 100k on a Performante (haven’t seen those prices drop as I would buy a 200k performante yesterday, but let’s juts pretend) or better to lose 100k on a Portofino?

Except the people that are complaining as you call it already own multiple exotics.

So are you in the market for a 720 based on your post from mclaren life? All I can tell you is my local dealer wasn’t willing to give anything off a new build but certainly I think other dealers are willing to discount. 20k sounds about right.

Good luck on your mclaren purchase. I’m sure you will enjoy the 720.

Again putting things into context, the price you pay for a Pista should always take into account the depreciation cost of owning the model you had to buy to get the Pista. With the non special models there will always be higher depreciation because they aren't limited in production.

What if you don’t want to buy a Lusso or a Portofino to get a Pista but just buy something else. Is that acceptable?

It is Ferrari's business what cars they set out in their criteria. You either accept that or you don't. I feel it's acceptable as they put those rules upfront, did not make it a secret. There were many that did not meet the first step, who had bought many Ferrari's other than the specified models and were not considered for allocation.

Oh I agree. I’m not arguing and as I’ve stated numerous times, I don’t begrudge them. They are free to put whatever restrictions they want to sell their cars and people are free to abide by the rules that Ferrari sets or just love on to another brand.

There really isn't anything to argue about really. There will always be some who feel hard done by who felt they were entitled to special privileges based upon other purchases. But again Ferrari did put the terms and conditions up front. Even without terms and conditions, a limited production model will always leave a number of prospective buyers out. That is just a sad fact that goes with being able to maintain the exclusivity and future value of that exclusive model.

What did you buy to get your Pista allocation?

488 was the criteria down here. But as it so happened I bought my 488 before even knowing about Pista or any criteria. It was only after I'd bought 488 that I asked would there likely to be a speciale version that I was told yes, and, it was then that I was told the criteria, so it was at that point I put the deposit down, signed the order and got on the list knowing there would no doubt be more wanting it than the number that would ultimately become allocated to dealer. Allocation numbers of course were unknown to the dealer at that stage but based on history knew there wouldn't be that many.

Whoa finally some common ground. Dont hate the player hate the game. Ferrari has no problem selling every Pista they make with whatever BS involved, choose to play or not.

These treads are tiring. Wish more posted about driving.
I’m going to take the Performante spyder out tomorrow and love it. Same as when I had the Ferraris.
I configed a 600lt today. Don’t care about OMG the ownership stigma butthurtis-effect.
Cars are fun, we are fortunate.
D bag posts are exhausting with bs “facts”.

I don't think it was the price that made things easier or harder really. It seemed to come down to where I sat on the list as a 488 owner as expressing a keen interest and my history in motorsport track events (even though not with Ferrari) and wanting to buy the car to use it in those environments. I was told all the while that this time Ferrari had a hand in the allocations as well but as a first timer was given consideration by the dealer as they knew I had a passion in using my other cars that way.

Threads are threads. Ok hows about this. I did just over 600kms last weekend (amazing stuff), 2 weeks before that another 600+ and a few days before that weekend an amazing track day of @ 400 inc the to and fro. Another 600+ next weekend planned with at least 2 more decent drives of over 600 and at least one track day before xmas, maybe even 2. So glad I got these cars to drive! Agree this (driving) is really what it's all about! The rest is more or less just BS but still kinda fun and interesting in its own way....well to me anyway.

I own over 20 cars and would def add a 720 to the mix - but Im not going to be one of those guys that takes the hit - im ok with a used one as i see that market starting to tumble

At the end of the day, you pretty much lose money on all cars even those who get a Pista had to buy other Ferraris and lost money on most.

Just enjoy it if you can afford to enjoy it!

Price drop doesn't mean sales price. When you buy an exotic car, most likely you will sell to a factory dealer or an exotic car dealer. So purchase price minus sales price to a dealer will have a big difference!
