    Talking about running out of things.....I drove the 308 down to the servo last week to get petrol for the mower as I hadn't started it for a couple of months. On the way out from getting fuel I went to accelerate and it just stopped. It just kept cranking. I managed to get help to push it back into the servo and got underneath , tapped the fuel pump , checked the alarm etc. Still no joy...Eventually the NRMA guy came and looked in the engine bay and tapped the fuel talk....It's empty mate he said...I thought oh F#ck I hope no one finds out about this as that trophy is already taken....I then unscrewed the petrol cap ( which is not vented ?) to dip the tank as my guage was over half full. The cap blew off in my hands there was that much positive pressure and the tank had plenty of fuel. The car started after this. Is it normal that the screw cap is not vented to relieve the tank pressure? It's the first time I've come across this....

    How long since it was last started? .....and yes it happens.
    Check your overflow/return line (is there one) in your filling area,there could be a wasp nest blocking the airflow.

    But what he ^^ says..it's not normal.

    Horse and I had a similar problem many years ago on a day drive to Toowoomba, Marc found a collapsed hose causing the problem on Horse and mine had your problem ..... dopey wogs can't even make a fuel line without problems :p

    I'd wager you still have original tank hoses, recommend buying a full set and changing them all. Balance hose at base of tanks, vent hoses between tanks, hoses to fuel pump and then to carbs, etc, etc.

    Cheaper than a fire...

    Doh, I have to admit I did get the mechanic out the 500 once when it had run out of petrol...
    And the electrician was here on Friday because I hadn't turned the light bulb all the way in...
    It IS a girl thing - we have small brain snaps regularly which prevents us from the big bloke brain snaps that kill people!
