1978 308 windows go up and down fine and couldn't possible go up anyfurther but there is a gap between the top of the window and the targa top. Is this normal?

Well obviously it’s not normal but I have the same issue. I’ve been told it’s from the top warping from being stored behind the seats. The pressure eventually flares out the sides. No idea if this is true. Also have heard it’s the side foam that shrinks. That foam is very expensive.

While depressing the window switch have someone pull the glass up and see if it will go any further.
Most of the time there’s just isn’t enough power to bring the window all the way up, common problem.

I know the window is up completely and the top fits like a charm.

Yes my top fits perfect as well but have no idea if the sides have flared enough to cause the gap. I have a spare top I was going to make a glass top out of but first I’m going to see if it eliminates or makes the gap worse.

Is the gap perfectly uniform, or slanted?

Slightly slanted. Wedge shaped equal on both doors. Wider towards the rear.

There is a great deal of adjustment in the bottom and top stop points as well as the "rake".
I spent lots of time adjusting these when I installed new motors.

Interesting I will investigate. But I don’t see how with a forward rail/channel that’s fixed?
