Congrats on the purchase of Clay's old car. It is an amazing example. I am sure that you'll enjoy it. Now get out there and put some miles in it! It is a fantastic car for long road trips on scenic highways.

Thanks Will. I have already been on one long trip up highway 1 along the coast which was great. I plan on doing a lot more long trips as I definetly am not saving it for the next buyer as there won't be one. What's the old saying when the student is ready the teacher will appear. For me it was when the driver is ready the right car will appear. I love this car more than any that I have ever owned and was a perfect fit in every way. I love seeing that yours has 112k. Mine will get there one day.

Check out who is selling it: BHCC.

    It's most likely a non-running project.

A couple of years ago, they had a TR for dirt cheap. Looked fairly good -- until you took a close look at the bottom shots. There were barnacles (of the ocean type) hanging down there. Turns out it was a hurricane Sandy car.

Look at the pics of the bottom of the engine. Look at the oil filter. It's filthy and looks like it's been on there for some time along with oil leaks. Who owns a car like this and does that?

Tr family owners have a major different outlook on the market than buyers which is why the car tend to sit till the seller has to sell for some various reasons ;)

About as well put as I have ever seen !! There is without a doubt a HUGE disconnect between Seller price expectations, and what Buyers are willing to pay .
Seeing the same thing in the luxury Real Estate Market as well, which is common when the market shifts.

What happened to all of those $500k 512trs? Where did all of the "It's different this time" people run away to? :)

I think there is some disconnect between sellers and buyers happening here but it happens across all cars for sale. Example: A guy who lists a 1993 Ferrari 512tr with 25k miles and is currently asking 235k. The sellers explanation is he is following the market and his car is worth that. This is a real example today. He just lowered his price to 198k. We have been seeing driver high quality 512trs selling for 160ish numbers. Let's look at what these cars are not. Now these are not ultra low mileage cars as in sub 10k cars. These cars are not perfect cosmetically. The ones we have seen have limited service records. Now if I buy one of these cars and want to bring it to perfect cosmetic condition i.e. repaint, here in Ca it's 30k bare metal restoration and repaint all day long. That's without replacing parts i.e. window weatherstripping etc. I would budget another 5-10k for misc. parts. That 162k car I'm now into for about 200k let's call it. I guarantee you I can buy a pristine 512tr in this market for 210-215k with lower miles. Which road do you think a car collector is going to take. We also have to consider another problem even if you can't stomach that reality. There are only a handful of 512s for sale right now. There is only about 4 with low miles that appear perfect. There price points are all about the same. These sellers have locked up the market. Until someone else comes in with a similiar car with a lower price the market is tied up. I said this before, if I total my car tomorrow I need to get a replacement. Will I wait? Hell no, for what to try and save 30-50k. I'll buy another perfect example and drop 200-220k to get what I need while others are wondering what to do. I don't have time to wait for the next good deal. It's not enough money to make it compelling enough for me to wait. How long would I have to wait?A year maybe longer? Based on the 162k last price on bat for that example and miles it's right in line with current prices and inventory. Why do you think when the new zr1 went on sale the dealers were marking them up 50k. Because some would buy them due to limited availability. I would never buy a new car like that as you will take a massive hit on depreciation. But on a rare 512tr, you bet you ass I'll take that bet everyday. My personal thoughts, no disrespect to anyone here as I respect everyone.

I am not talking about any of the testarossa cars for sale as there are a lot of them for sale right now and I don't follow them very closely.

Sounds like a plan. If I get Quail tickets, I’ll swing by around Monterey car week.

Now that's a disconnect and an obviously unmotivated seller lol. As we all know that car is probably worth around 180-200k depending upon condition. He has no chance to sell it in today's market as that's more than double. I hope he is providing 300k walk around money once you buy this. Quote from Miami Vice inserted here "with my lifestyle I could spend that in a weekend". No 300k cash back no deal.

I plan on entering the car in the Italian Concorso event in Monterey so if you attend let me know. But either way It's here for you to see. Thanks.
