There is no doubt it’s a special car. I’m sure it’s spectscular. I’m just referring to how it will do with resale. Likely more made than speciales. More expensive by what appears to be between 75-100k. Maybe it holds strong on resale, maybe it doesn’t. I don’t know but I’m curious. Again, not taking away from what appears to be an unbelievable ride.
I much prefer the f40/CS approach. They shld make the cars as enzo wld have wanted them. Leave the specialization to the wives decorating the houses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
back from another drive...much more relaxed vs yesterday. The Pista does relaxed perfectly. Our Scuderia was brutal for a duration. I have never driven a Speciale for a long period of time but heard that its the same. Ferrari has clearly evolved the race car/ streetcar formula. Met up with a follow F-Chatter (Mike) who was driving his Speciale. Great fun driving the hill country roads. Friend with a Z06 was also with us. Didn't do any silly on road racing. The Speciale and the Z06 had a little fun. I am waiting for the next track day at Cota... Random observations: I painters taped the crap out of the car. Looked like a red neck bra. The back CF diffuser elements are going to be a major issue for rock chips. The diffuser fins immediately behind the rear tires are going to be under constant attack from chips. I am going to have those parts double wrapped. For those of you picking up your Pistas soon....painters tape until your bra is installed or bra before road time. I know many of you see carbon fiber as a must-have, but I don't. The standard composite material is just fine. Our car has all the CF and honestly, it is not needed. For aggressive road use the standard material (not CF) is perhaps a better choice. The overall design of the car is what is really a surprise to me. I can always find some aspect of a design that is a little 'unresolved'. Especially true for modern cars that add aero bits. They always seem to look very pep boys. The Pistas design doesn't draw attention to the flicks and aero parts. The entire design is very resolved. Entirely gorgeous. When you look at everything up close the overall design becomes 10x more interesting and you notice all the little details. The exterior is perfect for what it is. I am less than 6' and fit perfectly. The lack of carpets and insulation results in every little pebble being heard as it hits the underside. You can also feel the engine at all RPMs on the floor and the seat. Resulting in a very personal feeling of being in unison with the Pista. Ours has the real bra installed next week. Entire car.
This is true but never the less i did build a relationship with the salesman at my ferrari dealership ..he knew me and despite me living over 200miles away he would call me monthly and i purchased several new Ferraris from him he offered an early speciale to me and would call just to check in on what i was up to I would tell him what i was looking for in the way of cars somwtimes he helped sometimes not..but then he left and went to a competitor brand..so now after 8 years dealing with my guy.. he is gone and i am at the bottom of the list ...or so it seems.....back to the buy a lusso and i will get you a pista BS .. Just not going to happen i love cars but only buy a car if i want it...will i get a pista Time will tell...
You will get a Pista! Anyone who wants a Pista will get a Pista. This is not a limited car. There will be many that are made.
I suspect so right now i just think the new to me salesman is playing the old new customer game with me......no big deal like you say there are lots of cars...
Part of it is marketing. Every company tries to do it. Create the aura of exclusivity and limited availability. With 2 years to go till the supposed 488 replacement, why would anyone purchase and spec out a new 488.? If someone can’t get a Pista, they buy something else. I would be curious to know the number of 488 allocations in 2019 that Ferrari would put out.

OMG!!! It's like dating this person for 8 years and then sudden the person leaves for another person without dropping a damn note...or breakup over texting! I am sorry, man.
Can you skip the 'salesman' and go have a conversation with the GM? He is the one that makes the decisions, not some floor guy. If you find out that you are starting over after that conversation, start shopping for another dealer...what will it hurt at this point?
I agree--which is why it's important to have a PERSONAL relationship of some sort with GM. As I said, he's the one pulling the levers, not a salesperson.
Yes I can do that but just have not done it at this point...i need to take a couple of cars up for service in the next couple of monthes and will meet with him then .....being along distance customer has its issues ..I live outside the distance limits so technically i believe i could work with any dealer..
Agree--but I buy all of my cars out of state and it's amazing what a few phone calls (to right person) can do. Either way, good luck with the hunt and hope to see Pista in your future.
Yeah i know and i have bought cars from all over the country also it just kinda pisses me off that i should even have to do that i have made it clear to the Gm and New Sales guy via email that i would like a Pista when they were first introduced ...And I get it they have customers that buy several cars a year from them but just not interested in begging them to take my 450k...
For me it comes down to the following: 1. If I receive an allocation for a Pista would I be comfortable spending $450k? No, I would want a base version closer to $375. 2. Would I want to track this car even at $375? No, I would be more comfortable in a GT3RS for around $225 plus $30k adm. 3. Do I want to own and drive a Ferrari for the street on a regular basis. Yes, either a grand touring model like the Portofino or the new sports series model 4xx replacement in 2 years when my dealer says I can place an order for one. If finances are a concern, a used California T or a very low mileage 2014 or 2015 458 would be very nice. 4. Do I want to have a “special” Ferrari to have and keep someday? Yes, when I can buy a 458 Speciale for around $325 in a year or two if used Pistas put downward pressure on the Speciale. Just my 2 cents.
