Hello Can anyone find out what car it is? It was discovered in Brazil in the 70's. It is a Ferrari 212 with spider bodywork and LHD. A really strange stuff. copyright : Colin Crabbe Image Unavailable, Please Login
Probably 0198ET, a 225S, not strange at all. http://antigosverdeamarelo.blogspot.com/2011/03/ferrari-225-s-vignale-spyder-1952-no.html We have 0180ET which still resides here in Brazil.
I attach pictures of 0198ET and 0180ET. You can notice that both have 3 ovoid air outlets. The enigmatic Ferrari has two oval air outlets and a left hand drive. Still strange, isn't it? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The conversion to LHD would be harder back in the day, but the alterations to the bodywork I could see happening fairly easily, especially if the car was involved in an accident or something of the sort.
I understand your argument but 0180ET and 0198ET have not changed in appearance throughout their careers. So it is indeed another car that arrived in Brazil in 1954. It too did not change bodywork until it was discovered by C. Crabbe. The question remains valide. Image Unavailable, Please Login 0198ET c : Belvisio Image Unavailable, Please Login 0180ET c: unknow
How can you be sure the car is a LHD 212? Ok, so there is no steering wheel visible on the right hand side but there is no windscreen either as the car is clearly in bits. There is no bulge under the cover on the left hand side that says for certain there is a steering wheel there. The steering wheel is, possibly, sat on top of the cover and not attached to the car but the photograph is not clear enough to be sure of this. Why a LHD 212 and not a RHD 250?

Ardy, I agree with 0072E. This car is well known in Brazil and does not pose any particular problem. As for the enigmatic Ferrari, I think it is an odd number that was most probably modified at Vignale in 1952-53 and delivered "new" in South America in early 1954. A great classic of the time. I would add that I am certain of the engine capacity. It remains to be seen which number it is............
Unfortunately no answer to my first question.... Another enigma for Brazilian specialists Car? Location? Date? Pilot? Image Unavailable, Please Login
In fact, what interests me is to know the chassis number of the Peugeot 203 which is on the right of the picture
If you are so sure that it is neither 0016 M nor 0024 M, which one is it (post #13) then? Marcel Massini
Are you sure? because the paint scheme looks identical! And i doubt there were many 166 mms in Brazil!
