I get your point but I know paint and the color I'm talking about is amazing for a metallic silver. As an aside, the paint on my F12 cost me $30K extra and its not silver nor metallic and worth every penny
Although there is undoubted high margin in the triple layer paints, it has to be remembered that the bodies are taken off the line and sent across town to another company who specially paint the bodies. The cost is only partly in the paint, but much more so in the skill and care taken to apply it and the fact that it is a bespoke item requiring an adjustment to the normal manufacturing process. If Toyota had to do the same their price would be higher too, though not, of course, like Ferrari TLP. The finish on the triple layer paints is far higher quality than factory standard too.
All the super car makers gouge when it comes to options. Attempting to justify them only reinforces the practice but lets at least whine about it a little.. We accept it since there is no alternative. If you want special paint then we are prepared to shell out the price of a Honda Civic. We rationalize it by convincing ourselves that when spending $350K on a car whats another $20000 for nicer paint.
Well seems like from chat here, that most early ones are loaded to $425-450 range...so only $75-100K over...hmmm not as much as I would think. It only it will only go down as more come to market. They will keep pumping them out to help profits, while dealers make them feel exclusive.
How it works: High MSRP and TM cars or Lusso buyers get first go, as it maximizes dealer profit from the start. They will work down the line of buyers as allocations are given throughout the year. Anyone talking about 2020 MY being sold out is an idiot. 2019 allocations are still coming along until early/mid next year. Dealers in North America are just starting to get their first cars delivered, be patient and as long as you've established sufficient history, your time will come. Stay away from CF wheels if you want timely delivery too.
I think you are right but not sure what sufficient history is. Exactly, it will be easy to get one by the end of next year I bet. Not sure if they will be much cheaper but definitely available to schmoes like me.
Not sure how many guys out there know just how much profit Ferrari makes per vehicle let me enlighten you. Number one profit manufacturer is Ferrari at 90,000 per vehicle Number two profit manufacturer way down from Ferrari is Porsche at 18,000per vehicle Not crying for Ferrari or the dealer Dealer makes 11% per vehicle Even averaging an MSRP of 325,000 Your figure the math The dealer made 53,000 on my 812 And I still can’t get s Pista Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's actually worse than that. On an average pista spec (say $740k) the state and federal government will make Import duty - $20k GST - $50k Luxury car tax - $145k Stamp duty - $40k So about $255k... and they don't even send you a thank-you card.
You need to be a dealer to know they made way more than 11% on a car. There are numerous quota bonuses and incentives that come into play. Your Ferrari profit per vehicle is heavily skewed because it probably includes merchandise sales and licensing, etc.
Ferrari Earnings Report- Period - 9 months - ending Sept. 30- Euros- millions 2017 2018 Net Revenue 2,577 - 2575 Net Profit 401 - 596 % of revenue from cars 83.3 - 82.5 Cars Sold 6381 - 6853 Net Profit per car 52,343 - 71,750
The Porsche factory also has 'nicer paint' but they charge 80,000 euros for the elusive opportunity...
For what its worth... Since delivery, we have received 2 totally unsolicited offers. One for $150k over and another for $225k over. Both offers were in writing and received within 48 hours of when we posted our delivery pics. Our Pista is not for sale. Not interested in offers etc. I am not sure I will ever sell our Pista. Nowhere have I suggested that we will sell it. The global market for Pistas is incredibly hot.
Be extremely cautious with that, many pricey cars get offers, primarily for the export market with many attempts to make it seem legit. Nothing but a sham there.
Wow! It must still be nice to have the offers. My offer is as follows: If/ when/ you would like to share some driving impressions, I promise to press the "like" button
I constantly get email offers to deposit $50million in my bank account as long as I hand over the account details . Legit ....nah
Just purchased a new 488 Spider that came with an allocation for a Pista. Spider delivery in May, Pista sometime next year.
