FYI the Construction shown in the two pictures is actually not inside the Pista di Fiorano area. It’s an empty area between the track and the factory of Florim (tile manufacturer).
I have noted that your in line for a Pista , well done and im happy for you. Just a thought I was thinking since you mentioned it ild like to share. I like the Pista but honestly I still have to appreciate the 488 GTB I have , drive more ! But im really not into the carbon especially interior. Exterior AWESOME But then again if I had to have carbon it would be mat. So i like the more comfortable interior of a 488 GTB. As you mentioned as per history the new 488 will have traits of the Pista . I can see the rear end being used and front end , maybe not the S-Duct but what if the new car really resembles the Pista ? Past history shows the new car being reviled while the current model still in production. So my thought was to see the new 488 while the Pista was still being made and orders being taken. Then make the decision. As you know the price of the 488 GTB came in lower than the Italia 458 for Australia. I doubt the new 488 would be lower in price to the 488GTB but the increase wouldn't be that high.
Thanks ! Lots of mule with high positionned exhausts and hybrid system . Now I'm pretty sure the 488 gtb replacement won't be hybrid because of costs . These hybrids mules are only related to the new top mid engine range .
Don't you think outright performance is more important than the number inside the owners manual stating how much hp the car has? I don't see why it's so important that the replacement car has 740hp instead of 720hp if it's faster and better than the Pista/720s either way, and I really don't see why a car has to have the most hp to be on top. Bragging rights down at the pub isn't as cool as it used to be now that all the bragging is done online. Take the 720s for example, it would not be more diserable, better or faster if Mclaren were honest about how much hp it actually produces. It would just have a different name.
I was informed that the successor of the 488 will be revealed in Geneva in March … Anybody else that can confirm that ? See you in Geneva !
Does that mean only 4 years of 488 production? 2016, 2017, 2o18, 2019, is there even going to be a 2020 model then? 458 had 6 years I believe - 2010-2015. was it the same for 360 and 430 lines?
I think if you look at the 360, 430, 458 and 488 you’ll see they’re pretty much the same. 5yr model lives with a special version - Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, Speciale, Pista launched 12-18 months from end of life and produced for about 6 months after new model launch (but not yet in production). It’s likely the 488 replacement may be launched in Geneva but only start production in Sept ‘19 with Pista probably ending July/Aug. Also the 430 & 488 lives are shorter than 360/458 as they’re upgrades on the same platform rather than new models. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Huh? I haven't asked my dealer cause the dealer doesnt tend to tell anything around here. Isn't that why this discussion board exists to get information?
USA dealers do not divulge in future cars They're incentive is to sell whatever they have at the moment
Ferrari announced some years ago that they would shift platform lifespan from ten years (348,355 era) to 8 years (360,430/458,488) era. So this would make sense the 488 only lasts 4 years. It’s replacement should be announced in March.
Jaja, besides the oics my dealer has been spot on since march when I put my name down for the replacement. He described three engines with the V8 at launch.
If the direct 488 replacement was due for a March reveal, you would see test cars around with limited camo, not the fully blanketed car with the electrical stickers on them, or a 488 engine mule. I would think the Pista has another year to go, just like the Speciale where it had 1.5 years of production, hence you see '14 and '15 MY 458 Speciale cars. The Pista is the "update" car to keep up with the rest of the competition for now.
