i nevwr i dwrstiod... if the plenium was not suppoawd to be uaed as a shels why did the lord make it so flat and convienent? As far as stepping away for pics... the most likley scenario.... logic has nothing to do with it, folks tend to look for opportunity to dig, even artifical ones.
I too do like the Bradan threads. My previous posts was not meant to start a range war. It was little more that an observation that to me looked haphazard, that I've seen before, and constructive criticism. It looked as if someone walked away and left the tool there. And if it was forgotten and someone got under the car and it fell off and hit them it could cause serious injury. Workman's comp claim, BOOM. {edit} But it's Dan's shop and he can run it as he pleases.
That all sounds like a series of events that’s quite a stretch of the imagination. Even if it was left there, little chance that it would even fall much less to the ground unobstructed by all the other parts and directly onto someone’s head. Ever walk into a lift arm? Ouch! I’d rather get beaned by that rubber covered impact any day

Great threads Dan. I once found a mechanic’s wrench left in the engine bay of my 930 Turbo. It’s been my favorite wrench for years.
For all you weekend warriors and arm chair quarterbacks. Professionals mess up more times then most here have thought about much less attempted said repairs. A business is not a hobby, sometimes confused here. xo
IF the surface is horizontal, something will be set on it sometime in its life. It's whether or not that thing was left there when the horizontal surface goes to do its job that matters. Been there, set it down, removed it before re-admittance into service. sjd
You guys are funny. One day someone will post that they took their meticulously maintained car in for service and when they got it back the plenum was scratched up they are pissed. I'll be the first to remind them the plenums are tool tables.
The truly honorable shop would make it right if that were to happen, in the meanwhile I think I know where I left my Dewalt. sjd
Meh. Whatever. I have had my tools scattered on my plenums multiple times....and I am the one that refinished them. They look great BTW (the plenums, not the tools). Dan has been kind enough to help me via phone on more than one occasion. Great people are hard to find. Be happy we have Bradan posting pictures and sharing knowledge here.
