I’ve seen this SV at Pebble and it’s amazing in very way. Some one very lucky is going to get one of the best looking SV’s. According to Vale the Ansa stickers on the exhaust tips are a correct feature. I know Joe disagrees. JT ask your dad about it...

Any one care to guess what it will sell for?

I do disagree, for the P400, P400S and P400SV, the stickers (large-size) were originally placed upon the muffler housing - see below.

I've seen OEM units with them still in place.

On a customer car, the stickers probably burned off in 1 hour.

The exhaust tip extensions (nicknamed by factory workers 'Terminale Bob') had nothing to do with Ansa, they were an appendage designed by the car's builder to keep exhaust soot off the rear of the car as much as possible.

Placement of the stickers on the exhaust tips is something that has been done in contemporary times because people like to use stickers to decorate their cars, so much so that it has gained acceptance

Correct but i think the red is too bright.

This is what I initially thought as well. From what I have seen, the red should be a bit more brownish, like a barn red. And, it's not glossy...it has the look and sheen of red primer. Can anyone confirm? Photos of an original, unrestored unit would be excellent.

I think it will mellow with time, but you are right, we need to look at a totally original car.

    Here is one.

Miura 3216 http://joesackeyclassics.com/portfolio/the-miura-that-time-forgot-3216/ one owner from new, on honeymoon with his new wife in 1967 he walked into Sant Agata unannounced during P400 production and asked Ubaldo Sgarzi if he could buy a Miura direct. The car was built to special-order with Mohair-covered seats to match his then-new Porsche 904. He flew the Miura home to California via LAX and believe it or not it is in Orange County not far from us. He still has the 904 and his Gullwing too, all original and low miles. The Miura has @ 2,000 miles and is 100% original. Note the splash tray, it looks to be semigloss, not gloss, and I believe it started off red and tarnishes over time with fuel & oil

Lel, thank you for this, superb post of a rare component still in the box, one I have not seen before, I learn something every day as I did not know that Ansa was involved in supplying these and always thought the the exhaust tip extensions were Bertone SpA trim fitment.

Interesting that the unit is stickerless, which underscores what I have observed as original delivery.

However, I should clarify that I know that Ansa in fact did make a sticker for the exhaust tip extensions during some of P400S production, but it was affixed topside (not along the side seams) and the sticker was a combination of the word 'Bob' and the Ansa logo

Another photo of the original red paint. I believe it is gloss paint, just not a modern supper shiny paint.

    Cheers Jim

Stickers could of come separately as an option when the tips were new. Some customers put them on others didn’t.
Jeff Stephans and Valentino are in the Ansa sticker camp.

Anything is possible, no harm in putting them on if you like them.

I have a not inconsiderable archive of Miura images taken at Santa Agata when the cars were new from 1967 to 1973, and I'm yet to see an Ansa sticker in any image, that's where I get the idea that they were a post-production application.

Agreed I haven’t seen any in period photos either. That why it’s confusing when I hear experienced and knowledgeable people I mentioned say different. Personally I don’t like them.

Here's a rare shot proving the air outtakes placed behind the front wheels of the Miura SVJ are real, letting hot air out. And not just made for an aesthetic à-la-Jota purpose, like I read it in some book.

When Oscar-winning actor Nic Cage owned the ex-Shah of Persia's Miura SVJ 4934, I was able to spend quite a bit of time with it, and drove it likely more than he did, using it with Tiff Needell in an early Top Gear episode, FWIW at the time I owned the ex-Shah of Persia standard SV 4870 to compare it with.

As regards the side venting made upon the SVJ bodies by coach-builder Marchesini at the factory, they exist, but they have absolutely no connected ducting to channel air to them and thus facilitate the passage or extrusion of "hot" air efficiently, the vents are just there to make the car look 'racy'. Once you also understand that the brake component specification of the SVJ is exactly the same as that of the standard production SV which has no vents, and take into consideration that both the SV & SVJ are strictly road cars, you can conclude that the presence of side-vents is purely cosmetic.

With collective input it's a good resource!

I'm wondering if PoloStorico has in its database the correct red paint codes for both the P400 carburators plates + the verso of the airbox filter covers.

These two red colors are definitely not bright red, even if I've never seen when new, but only on used cars.
More close to a brick color for the air box lids.
It's clear that these red color gets tarnished over time, with the heat and vapors of gazoline.
And can go from shiny to satin, then even looking like matt ...

This is excellent as well! Thanks for the photos. I think we can safely conclude that they were more red-brown than bright red. And, not a glossy finish but more semi-gloss in nature. Thanks again. -Vince
