There was a rebuild, as you'd expect with those miles. Hats off to him. I'm just about on 50,000 so a fair way to go.

Only if it was (really) neglected. Those engines can go forever even when you beat the hell out of them.

Oh for sure. I have no idea what the rebuild entailed. Maybe it was just the speedo :)

Funny that the guy didn't know the HP changes and said the early cars had around 214 hp. I believe the 76-77 had 240HP and the 78-80 had the 214HP until the Q-valve which went up to I think 240HP. All hp numbers were +/- 5 . Thought he would have know this.

It seemed like he skipped right over the carb cars, when he was talking about the early cars his references sounded like the 2 valve injected cars that was kind of strange but maybe he was a bit nervous being on t.v.

Yes, the most and highest mileage I know on a 308 and it’s still running TODAY is 400,000 miles, yes you read it right 400K miles. I mean why not right? If it’s maintained properly and driven properly I don’t see why it wouldn’t go that high or even higher.

Wow 400,000 miles would require roughly 14 belt services!

I tried to buy this car while it was at the “choppers”. It really wasn’t a bad car and it certainly wasn’t anything near needing to be chopped up. It’s good to see it on the road. Image Unavailable, Please Login

As I recall from my owners manual (85 Euro QV) has gas mileage figures of something like 16 city and 34 highway.

Agreed. This is Donnie's personal car that he restored after wadding it up somewhat with an off road excursion, so I am sure it gets fixed last. You can follow him on facebook as well. He has a hanger full of Ferraris that he is currently restoring. Great guy in So Cal living the dream.

    Here's a good overview:

"Donnie restores cars. Obscenely nice, rare, and unique cars. Phil Hill’s Packard, the Miura prototype, and a brushed aluminum Shelby Cobra, to name a few. Undeniably the stuff of legend."

I've been following him for years on Facebook, and he gets some amazing machines through his very small shop, not to mention all the NOS parts he manages to score, probably thanks to his factory connections. I suspect he gets more than his fill of assignments through word of mouth.
