I have a 2002 575 and during the course of production pages of changes were done to upgrade various systems as an example 4-5 different suspension ecu's and I use the latest one which takes the bounce out of the early cars. Is this something that has gone on with the f12 over the years or have the f12 been more properly sorted before production and not during production? Just curious but always thinking.

I had 2x 2014's and 1x 2017. On the 17's, I did notice the suspension was firmer, tighter, and less body roll. Also, the 17's exhaust was quieter too. Both of my 14's had leather separation problem.

I mean typically the later the better I guess.

It's interesting what you've mentioned about the ride differences you felt between the 2014 F12's and the later 2017. If you look at the parts of the F12 suspension and the ECU that controls it they are the same for the 2014 and the 2017 models. Perhaps there has been a programming update or some kind of algorithms improvement on the 2017 models.

I think the infotainment, if you can call it that, was updated on later models and not much else that I know of.

Sounds like the f12 was sorted out better before production.

Well there was also the 599 run between your 575 and the F12. Hopefully they continue to learn and make fewer oversights.

Personally I'm amazed at how much they got right with the F12 and other models. They make just a fraction of the volume of cars as the major manufacturers and they push the envelope on quality, luxury and performance. If you have the opportunity to go over one with all the covers off you will see most of the car is custom made. Lots of lightweight, heat tolerant components jammed into every nook and cranny. When PF was designing the coaches you'd have to coordinate the chassis and engine from Ferrari and the body design from PF. If you had 3-layer or special paint then the car needed to be shipped to Zanasi and then back to the factory. And all put together for just a 4-5 year run and then the upgrade. The best part is they design, engineer, built, test and produce all their own world leading engines in their own foundry. The engine being the only part of the car where the metal comes to life. Amazing.

I couldn't agree more. By coincidence I was yesterday at my dealer and the responsible of the workshop who has been working with Ferraris for decades mentioned how much modern Ferraris have improved. He referred that he doesn't remember seeing a broken engine for more than 10 years and that says a lot about their degree of quality.

A lot of the engine improved reliability is down to vastly improved electronics and digital safety nets.

... Something to consider when you let tuners lose to extract extra power. The number of hacks I've seen where safety checks has been disabled because they where too lazy to do it properly. One of the worst I saw was disabling the self checking on the digital throttle position sensing.. doesn't need to much imagination to think how that could end up....
