How is it a lie if McLaren say the 720S makes 710 horsepower at 7,500 RPM. They are just quoting a number at a specific RPM. The horsepower is potentially less at lower RPM or perhaps more at a higher RPM. They are just quoting a number at a specific RPM that was chosen. Should manufacturers' graph the horsepower every 500 RPM from idle to redline and what about the effects of elevation or weather temperature plus even the quality of the fuel available? Horsepower is just a number in a very specific set of circumstances which can vary greatly depending on changes in those circumstances.

For 720S model, McLaren states in papers MAX HP: 710@ 7500rpm (720PS@7500rpm), whereas according to dyno, the max turbo 'hump' came even earlier ~7000rpm and it was almost 700HP at the wheels .ROTFL.

Show me an actual engine dyno result. These mags and tuners don't dyno cars correctly.

You can make a rolling dyno show anything you want, and they often do. If you aren't using a professional engine dyno set up, then you're just guessing.

Would the eventual 488 replacement eclipse the current 720S performance numbers ? and what would be the performance margin be to the big brother ?

720S just looks better in stats when it pulls better numbers in races (mostly drag races - a drag strip queen ;-p) and "only" 710hp/720ps from the engine is quoted.

Now get back to the topic on 'holy' 488 replacement, which I think is a great car already.

488GTB vs mclaren 720S is 50HP and ??kg difference between the two (and it is just on paper, not taking into account real figures - I am looking at you mclaren ;-p ).
The 488 Pista is better comparison that matches the paper numbers of 720S - same declared HP and weight, and Pista looks a bit slower in straight line acceleration numbers, but better in lap times what matters most.
So, if the Ferrari tradition continues, the "replacement" of the regular 488 should be faster than special version of the previous model, namely - faster than "Pista".

About BB and LB - Ferrari has its own philosophy how to be on the top of the game, so it doesn't have to respond to a particular model of another make. Take for example no reaction to models like Mclaren "Senna", diversity of Lamborghini special versions etc. But even saying so, I am greatly anticipating that the BB and LB will be strong points in Ferrari lineup and with proper top-of-the-game performance of course.

That's what I heard too. FL at Geneva, BB later. I'm very curious to discover the BB's numbers and if it'll step into the 812 territory (with about 800 horses or, maybe, even more..).

The 'BB' should easily surpass the performance of the 812. The new platform should showcase the use of different kinds of aluminum for different parts of the platform. All done with more or less strength where each is required for a rigid platform. Less weight than the 812 and better driveability with an electric performance add where needed to. Not to be forgotten is the transmission changes plus the evolution of computer tuning that Maranello engineers are famous for. The body also contains specific aero benefits compared to the 812. Ferrari Engineering talent will shine with this super Ferrari design! For many BB or MUGELLO as I like to call it will instantly become more desirable than the well received Monza SP effort. In some cases it already has....

He's most likely assuming that a V6 would be the motor of choice due to efficiency, size, weight or something like that for racing. No one races with big engines like V12s.

Sorry, there may very well be a connection. Ferrari tested the LaFerrari with their F1 V6 years back. The engine rules are supposedly similar between F1 and WEC.

That V6 LaFerrari was just a ploy in order to circumvent the F1 testing ban.
As for the new Hypercar class in WEC, all engine types are allowed, but the power is capped.

B o P makes the whole business an extremely expensive scam. Doesn't matter what you bring to the party all cars are not created as equal.

    Two guys meet a girl.
    - "I have got a mclaren" - says the 1st one
    - ...
    - "mclaren 720s"
    -...
    - "it has got 720 'powers' "
    - " ... and does 0-60 in 2.0sec !"
    - ...
    - "come on ... !, it has been unbeatable on a drag strip, it has iconic dihedral doors, electrochromatic roof, folding gauge cluster, it has drift mode!!
    - ...
    - "it is orange painted!!!!!"
    Still silence.
Then the girl asks the other guy - "what about you? do you have a mclaren, too?
    - " No, I have a ferrari"
    - Wow, that's awesome :)).

If you guys think for one heartbeat that your Ferrari is going to impress a girl you are smoking crack.
Now...if your intent is to impress a guy...well...then, by all means a Ferrari will indeed do that.

I should have put a :) at the end of my last comment, sorry.

I got it. I was just joking back about the evergreen myth of Ferrari "sex appeal," when in fact more "girls" are more "turned on" by guys in trucks (at least in my experience).
    :)

Everybody knows Ferrari brand, no matter where you live and who you meet, ... and no matter the specification of the actual ferrari car they have ever seen or not.
And on a lighter note, I didn't really mean any sex-ual context in that joke ;), so you can share it anywhere. Anywhere but on mclarenlife :D.
