    Gents. Is 355 'TRANS OUT-PUT SENSOR' (part no. 149095) rebuildable/repairable? If so, I'll gift a faulty one to whoever can use it. The symptom is "sensor intermittently sending faulty data to speedometer resulting in trans light 'on' and limp home mode". New part is $390. If anyone can use it - lemme know, it's yours. Also (maybe everyone knew this except me) if your F1 is in 'limp home mode' (gears 1 and 2) and you shift the trans into Neutral then upshift, the trans will instantly go into 6th then immediately down shift in sequence (6, 5, 4, 3) to whatever gear is appropriate for how fast the car is going. Doing this I was able to drive to repair shop at posted speeds and not 20 mph on the freeway.

    Can you confirm which part was faulty on your car?

    149095 is a speedo sender threaded onto the LH lower side of the gearbox. The F1 sensor, 168729, is jammed into the bottom of the gearbox. Both are about $250.

    You've worded this like you've decoded a fault code. Is there actually a problem with the speedo indications.

    If the speedo is working reliably, then it may not be the sensor on the gearbox. The sensor sends a signal to the speedo. The speedo divides the frequency by 2 (using an integrated circuit in the speedo) and then sends it to the other car's systems (suspension ECU, engine ECU, F1 computer)

    Sounds like the speed sensor. and yes that works to be able to drive drive the home. Sort of limp mode but it works.

    Yes it would be the speedo sensor because I have had a faulty f1 transmission sensor and it does not react that way.
    It does other stuff that i,have discussed n a dfferent thread.

    Not necessarily.

    Speedo sensors can be tested and fixed (with some effort), as can speedos. If you're trying to save money, perhaps you should do some basic faultfinding first to confirm the sensor is faulty. If you already have a multimeter, a 9V battery (say from a smoke alarm) and you buy a 560 ohm resistor, you will have all you need to test it. You will have to remove it, however, using a suitable spanner. If it's too tight, you may have to modify a 32mm socket).

    Some folks have been able to remove the sensor without removing the wheel arches.

    Gents. Thanks for insightful replies. Trans light 'on' / 'limp home mode' eliminated by replacing part no. 149095 - 'threaded speedo sensor' or 'trans out-put sensor' according to dealer who also said that, although this part did come from Ferrari they're getting harder to find . Car now lickety-split. Interesting note Ricambi's price $250 is 65% of what I paid $390.

    Common problem. On long trips I Carry a spare probably overkill but whatever
