No punch for the heart usually means no sale on big decisions. It should be unique, non-production based to be in the hypercar league. Whenever I think of the Enzo or F50 I think of its construction as much as its beauty. I marvel at their race car derived chassis. I think if you put the Monza on a lift and remove the covers it would be hard to tell the difference between it and the production GT cars in the areas that matter. I believe the engine is identical as well. For these reasons and the volume of series coming out it will sit below the hypercar range. Great position to be in to have to decide and best of luck with your decision. And Merry Christmas!

Exactly same thoughts went through my head .... and the poss future models have won ....... but EVERYTIME I look at the Monza , I wobble a little ( and that’s not just from the Xmas pudding n cognac!). I like your description of being ‘uncharacteristically nervous ‘ as I think this is a tough 1st world choice to make - merry Xmas to all the F-chatters !

Does refusing the offer mean u limit the possibility of getting the LaF replacement?

BTW: Money no object I wouldn't hesitate :)

I think this is a crucial point to which I have no clear answer. In theory Ferrari will prioritize clients who confirmed their support to the brand by investing in the Icona series. Having said that, no one really knows what Ferrari will do when then LaF replacement comes out.

Second to last probably. There must be an 812 "GTO/tdf".

Me too. I mean, just look at it: jaw-dropping from every angle and it comes with the most beautiful sound ever made. Performance-wise, it should be stellar like the Superfast, which I had the chance to drive on twisty country roads in late October and put a huge smile on my face.

Anyway, best luck with your decisions, gentlemen. And happy holidays!

Couldn’t resist the temptation and sent in my deposit for an sp2, just so original in a copycat world! It should be a blast to drive if my Superfast is any indication.

Unfortunately I don’t think I’m going to be able to go through with it.
    1. You can’t drive on the road and having a dealer plate doesn’t make it road legal.
    2. I wouldn’t drive it on the track either as I would want protection from the loose tire heading towards my exposed head at 75 mph.
    3. I think the price is a little high for a car that probably costs €300k to build.

These are just my reasons, I think the car is beautiful, it may well be worth more than msrp one day and I applaud anyone that is getting one.

Right. But, it's not the length. It's how you use it . . . errr, drive it.

    Great perspective, thanks for sharing.

At this point in time, these cars (SP1, SP2) are unique, nothing like them in the Ferrari range. Who knows what the future will bring. I suspect there won't be many models like these.

If I was able to spec a car it would be:

    SP2, silver with yellow stripe

Or maybe white with blue stripes.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts in such a forthright manner. I was wondering if I was the odd one out in saying no. For me 1) wasn't a problem as I am in the UK. However, I like to drive every one of my cars, and 2) is a huge issue, as was 3). I also agonised a little over what this could mean for the relationship - time will tell!

Having said that, the car is absolutely spectacular, and congratulations to those getting one.

For point 2., I think the solution is just to wear a full face helmet - it's not any worse than a motorbike.
Point 3 is consistent with what appears to be the new pricing policy from Ferrari, to maxilise profits - I'm not sure how sustainable it is for the long term, however maybe Ferrari feels they'd rather get as much money as possible before they'll be eliminated from the landscape by electric self driving moving boxes :(
But I agree with previous comments, kudos to people getting one.
