Australian 328 GTS - correct manual?

    ....reawakening an old thread - can any Aussie owners or other experts out there provide some insight into the correct owners manual for an Australian delivered 328 GTS - June 1988 manufacture but December 88 local delivery to customer. Mine currently has a green cover US version 481/87 for a 1988 US model year car (note Aussie cars came with cats like the US cars). My warranty booklet 498/88 and service directory 510/88 are both yellow. Is this combination feasible/ correct for an Australian car or should all books be yellow. Should the owners manual be marked 'US version' or just be the plain yellow one?

    The wallet is a burgundy colour and I believe that is feasible given the car was a December 88 delivery and 89 cars had those burgundy wallets as per discussion above.

    I kind of collect those and I have never seen an Australian version book. I suspect since it was such a small market there was none. I think your cars were essentially US cars built in RHD (and possibly metric instruments?) so very possibly the US book was used. It will be interesting to see what other responses are.

    Thanks Rifledriver...... Yes - pretty sure there is no Aussie specific manual - will just be the US or Euro one. Just not sure which and whether if the US one it should be the '1988 model year' green cover version or not. Car does have metric instruments (kmh used down here). As I'm finding out there are quite a few quirks to the Aussie delivered cars that seem to break the accepted norms given it is a small market. For example my car is chassis 77633 (so in theory an 88.5 car). Has the new handles with gaskets but the older suspension and concave wheels. Go figure.......

    As you say would be good to see if anyone else has any insight re the correct owners wallet contents for an Aussie 328 June '88 build and Dec '88 delivery......

    Timothy, unfortunately I can't help you concerning book's on Aussie car.

    But "quirks" interest me a lot. Please forget 88.5 ! There is NO 88.5 outside North America. Aussie, Euro, Japanese etc.. 88.5 doesn't exist. American people create this name just for themselves because they absolutly want distinguish 328 convexes rims without ABS with 328 with ABS ('89 US model)
    And to my to my best knowledge there is NO ( any) Aussie 328 with ABS …

    AND,
    you can read everywhere that Ferrari 328 was fitted with convexes rims until #76626. But I'm pretty sure that it's not the case for RHD 328 ( UK and Aussie ). I never saw or heard about any RHD Ferrari 328 between #76626 and yours fitted with convexes rims. The first could be #77892

    So your car could haven't any "quirks" as RHD Australian 328 ;)

    I am looking for evidence and data about this since a long time so are you able to post or send me photo or/and history file about #77633 ? ( I saw and advertising few weeks ago )

    This would be my guess also. The Australian cars are indeed the same as the North American version ( with the "X" engine, catalysed) but in RHD and with metric instruments.
    The owner's manual for "euro" cars would not be the right one for the engine fittings of the Australian model (except for the metric instruments), as the "euro" engine ("W" engine) is without catalysator.
    The manual specific to the swiss variant (= "C" engine, with catalysator, but with KE-Jet) would not correspond to the australian engine either.
    There were only 150 cars built for the australian market, so I don't think this would have justsified a special print run for owner's manuals and warranty cards.

    Perhaps the original importer could help...if he is still in the business, and if his memory has not faded away? Or an owner with a first-hand car with all its papers, etc...long shot I know, but...

    Thanks guys - no response yet from other local Aussie 328 owners - I'm assuming my owners pouch contents are correct until shown otherwise - last owner had the car over 20 years and said they were all with the car so not a reasonable bet at least......

    Any other suggestions with a definitive answer or at least local examples would be interesting to hear from.

    My 1989 328 GTS Australian delivered car has the same owners manual as above but a matching yellow service booklet.
    I've never seen that red one either.
