With Ferrari badges, very interesting.

 

Nice test from the 488 Pista in AutoVisie, the best Dutch car magazine as a part of the Annual SuperTest, driven by racing driver Peter Kox. The speed and thus time difference with the Performante and GT3RS is huge.

Watching those videos, all blown up on my computer screen.... my goodness, the Pista is really beautiful!
(I know that's not a surprise, but seeing it in motion, the 488 GTB is already a good looking car, they took it to the next level! What beauty!)

I got a chance to see and sit in a Pista over the holidays, and up close the car is uniquely aggressive in a very subtle way, and reeks of that special certain something that the GTB just doesn't have. Maybe it's the extra CF or the painted stripe or whatever, but the Pista epitomizes the "whole is greater than the sum of the parts" saying. The interior, however, left me wanting more.

 

I understand what you are getting at regarding the interior. On one hand, what more do we want? Its a stripped out Ferrari V8. On the other hand, maybe they could have figured out the interior version of all the exterior changes; something to spark our imaginations a bit more. My take is this is an invitation to you to do something a little bit different with the Atelier or Tailor Made.

 

Yeah I can't understand why Ferrari chose to put the plain NERO Alcantara with a simple red stripe in such an in your face car. C'mon guys!

Here is how I spec'd mine...leather and alcantara and a black and white stripe repeated on the interior. Hope it looks good when I get it.

i'm quite surprised that the majority of Pista buyers is going for glossy carbon on the interior and not for matte carbon.

 

Mine on order is matte

 

I don’t like matte carbon
it feels like the carbon is worn
not very rewarding

 

I like matte because its closer to how the CF looks "au natural". But, I think glossy does look more finished.

 

You can’t order the instrument area in glossy carbon because of regulations in US... only matte.

 

I agree CF Glossy more finished
Glossy CF outside and CF Matte inside + inner sill kick : IMHO better with CF Glossy everywhere

 

luckily in Europe CF Matt is just an option 3000€

 

We chose matte black CF for both the 812 and Pista interiors except the door sills.

Same in Europe. Glossy is standard, matte or matte + full CF instrument cluster on option.

 

Somebody please start ordering red/tan so the right colors exist if there ever comes a day I can afford one!

 

The matte carbon is great. I’ve had it in my GTO and it looks and wears really well. Carbon is so overdone these days, the matte is much more subtle.

Plus, if you want to be technical about the Pista’s bloodline - the dash of a Challenge car is all matte carbon & Alcantara.
