Again... everyone cheats on the side vents because they can't believe they look that bad.

There is a lot of F430 in this view aside from the Camaro rear.

Actually, to the buying public OF those cars, those are good and memorable names.

Sports cars are a different breed.

Do you think the Countach would be just as well liked if it were named Edsel? I don't.

But GM has one of the largest consumer research groups in the world. They research everything to get the 98 percentile. That's where the problem is. To get the last top and bottom 5% you have to make the other 90% compromise.

I realize this is just someone's latest graphical impression, but the car is starting to look worse.

Is it just me, or have the tail lights now morphed into chicken feet? Rear backlight now looks concave.

That kind of looks like a cross between a Camaro and a 430 with added side intakes like a McLaren 650S. I kinda like it.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

It shouldn't be a "cross" between anything. A clean sheet design and Corvette's first mid engine car should be more ground breaking. The F430 was introduced in 2005!

What you just described is generic "2 seat sports car" styling. Its chop suey design -- just throw everything in the bowl and eat it up.

I agree - but Corvette design has been derivative for years, I expected nothing more.

I agree, and I like it. From what we've seen so far, it's about what I expected...except for the god awful side intakes. There is simply no excuse for those travesties. I am still hopeful that the production car's side intakes will be different.

Way to much rear fender on that rendering (like the 360 & 430) but the rest of it looks great.

Getting closer to the actual thing. I wonder if GM will pull a fast one and it looks nothing like the renders of which we have been accustomed to.

With the Lamborghini Muira. The chassis was shown then the body later. Extremely unlikely but one can dream

I said this a while back. With a plastic bodied car its quite possible to have the mules have details different than the real car. But then why would they go tracking it in Germany with the wrong aero?

So I figure this is it. We just can't see the details that hopefully have it ending up making some kind of visual sense.

If GM has been telegraphing the appearance of the new vette via the mules, they've missed an incredible opportunity to "wow" via a surprise design and, well, a great design. Ford took the exact opposite approach w/ the GT, and will most likely do the same for the new Bronco. I'd rather a company keep quite and BAM!, pull the covers off at a surprise show reveal.

This has always been a dilemma in the automotive world. Tease the public incessantly like NSX & Camaro did, or wow them with a surprise reveal. It is so difficult in this time of the net and social media to keep a secret. Apple does it best. I give FoMoCo much credit for being able to keep the GT under wraps for as long as they did. Ferrari also manages to do a good job of keeping pre release cars under strict control. The C8 has been seen so much with it's camo that it's almost a joke by now. But it's release has been pushed back so many times that it too has become a joke. Stay tuned.

Yes. But as you said, they are trying to get to that 98th percentile. It’s a shame they don’t take chances on groundbreaking designs anymore. Can you imagine today going from the C1, to the C2, to the C3?

The 355 is a 98th percentile car aside from its price in 1995. Still attractive today.

Will they say that about the C7 20 years from now? I don't think so. And this car seems to be influenced by it.

So do I! But I have my doubts based on GM's prior history here and from what I've seen.

I think they could have gone bolder.
