Hi guys, What are the predictions, is the March reveal of the new midengine car going to affect 458 values or are they not going to be affected? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 458 but don't want to do that if the values are going to sink in 2 months. Thanks!

Buy the car and enjoy it. There is no way to predict whats going to happen. What if they introduce a turd and all of a sudden, the last NA V8 Ferrari becomes more desirable and prices go up?

Who knows what will happen, just get the money ready, buy the car and enjoy the hell out of it. If you go in with the attitude that you are never going to see that money again, the drive and ownership experience is a lot more enjoyable. If you are constantly worried about depreciation, then its not as fun.

    Good luck!

Try reading all the identical threads whenever a new model comes - several people express concern but the consensus is efficient markets and built in obsolescence means its already in the price - also the new car might arrive with dealers at the end of the year but its price point will be 2 if not 3 times that of the almost ten year old 458 especially including early 'afters'

Values of all production high end cars are going to sink....I hope this isn't a news flash for you.
However, in other news turns out space is cold and the sun is hot.

Most mid engine V8 Ferrari's will be 50- 100K eventually ,GT4/308/328/348/355/360/430 already there, 458 a while to go still. They might all turn back up again in future.

Except of course the more lower production variants Vetro/CS/Scud/Speciale which have softened a bit but more likely to appreciate from here again in future years.

In your shoes looking at a 458 i would much prefer a Scud which might be in your range, and possibly less likely to further depreciate due to much lower production numbers. Considering taking this route myself.

    I can't see the 458 ever going below 130k. 430s already flirting with 100k and 360s below 100k.

458 is certainly closer to the bottom than the 488, but I do not think it's there yet. There are currently hundreds for sale in Europe (more than 300 on mobile.de), the cheapest around €120K. There are half as many 488, the cheapest around €175K.

Not even a concern, the 458 is the last V8 (probably ever) from Ferrari that will have a 9000 rpm rev limit (who knows, maybe they will have a 1.8L V8 with an 11000rpm limit in the future, will sound like a motorcycle).

The 458 is already in its own class, the new car in March is guaranteed to be a electric assist (not including the predicted 812 spider), the 488 by comparison floats the rev limit depending on various conditions between 7100 and maybe 8000 rpm, mostly seems never much above 7600 rpm, losing that lovely sound. Besides that, the new car is set to have a base price over 400K, so if anything would pull up prices since cost of entry is going up and up and by more than a little...

By way of comparison, it seems the Pista has not had much impact on 458 Speciale pricing or general availability (numbers for sale have not changed much over past 2 years and leading reason for lower Speciale prices are miles driven or blemishes on its title).

huh? this is not mclarentalk why are you that concerned about sinking 458 prices lol....
no i dont think the new car will affect the 458 prices at all, which has been holding very steadily. Unless the new car is normally aspirated, revs to 10k, entry level that starts at 200k, designed with a new language and there's no wait to buy....which is impossible
if anything, u should watch if real estate takes a dive similar to the stocks u will start seeing discounts on all exotic cars

They will go down, just like they will go down next week and next month and next year. 458 prices will go down for the next decade probably.

Even in 2 years it would not be impossible the price of a 488 is lower for the same Km number than a 458
any model confused and especially on spider

F430 are still priced higher than 360 though - in spite of the 360 being the last of the 5-valve engines.

I would be careful pricing 458 vs 430 Scuderia. They are certainly different cars, made in much different quantities, but I've noticed a definite split between cars with automated manual gearboxes (Scuderia) and those with DCT gear boxes (458+). The 430 Scuderia is so much rougher around the edges, which has its appeal, but I also think its a limiting factor. Its a hard call between the two. I just think the 458 will hold up a little bit better than some are expecting, and the Scuderia a little bit worse.

Scuderia is rarer and will get the preference of the people who basically don't drive their car - and in the current market they are the ones pushing the prices up. My guess is that the 458 will be the real bargains soon. Just like the 488 is a bargain compared to the Speciale.

A new model in March will do more to affect the 488 prices than the 458 IMO.

I believe the 458 prices will be on the raise in the not too distant future. As others have said, it's the last NA mid engine Ferrari that will be made. Not to mention the car is just epic to begin with. It's really a difficult task to beat this car, unless we are talking about the Speciale

It's hard to see anything happening to 458 values even with a new model if it's not with a high revving V8 with NA screaming :)

I remember when I went to the Geneva auto show a couple of years back when 488 was released and told Ferrari there I owned a 458 and was thinking about the 488, and even the Ferrari staff in Geneva advised me to hold on to the 458 as they predicted it will go up in value.

BUT I have not see the values go up though, but neither drop that much over the last years.

I have a Cali T HS right now and its a really amazing car. I found a beautiful 2015 458 spider. I am trying to decide if I should make the $65K switch or not. While the Cali T is a great car, when I drove the 458 it was a completely different beast and I loved it. I just don't know if I can justify the switch. I don't rely on the Cali for the backseats or other GT duties, the 458 is easy for me to drive as a daily, and I love the sound. I just worry that in March the 458 value is going to tank, whereas my Cali T would have continued along its already depreciation curve. I have heard lots of conflicting things about values going up. I'm not really considering buying the 458 to see its value increase, just that it would be a more enjoyable experience. If they go up, that would be awesome too but the word is that there were "too many made."

There is no way the 458 value will "tank." It might have a little left to depreciate but it's not going to drop drastically. This coming from someone who would love to see the 458 price drop significantly so I can buy one!
