I normally like many of the wide body conversions but actually not super digging it. We saw the grey 328 from SEMA that had the flares done on the GTO body kit - I really liked that. I am not as much a fan of this Liberty Walk kit that was just released at the Tokyo Auto Salon show (TAS). Perhaps because the flares aren't body color.

I know most of you hate anything but stock. I think people should be able to do what they want. I feel this will inspire more young people to be drawn to the 308. It means the 308 is getting more popular and thus, values might rise. Know this means some cars will be cut up.

Let your hate and or praise begin!

    Cheers!

I find it remarkable that a 35 year old car is still relevant to the tuner world. You would think they would have moved on and relegated the 308 to history.

Liking stock and respecting others rights to do what they want are in no way at odds with each other as opinions.

That was an expensive way to ruin a perfectly good car.

Certainly would not have been my choice for a whole bunch of reasons. Not the least of which if I'm going to build a street or track hotrod there are a bunch of cars out there with a ton more bang for the buck and a bunch more performance potential at any cost. A Corvette comes to mind.

All Liberty Walk kits look crap. They cut away your fenders, bolt on some horrible plastic-looking flares, and install crazy wheel spacers on huge wheels. This is the kind of tuning and kit car bodywork a 15 year old would do.

It has no place on a classic Ferrari, unless you want to broadcast to the world that you're a philistine with too much disposable income.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

One is certainly able to do whatever they want to their car, including ruining it in the way that body kit does.

One more thing. Even race cars need suspension travel. That thing can't have any. That was purely an aesthetic exercise.

Are they a bunch of 15 year olds?

I would respect it more if they did it out of metal and correctly blended the fares in to the body. Same goes for the GTOish spolier.

Design wise it's nothing new. Same generic fender flares people put on every type of car. I'm sure it's bagged to get that stance it's sitting at and doesn't drive that way. The SEMA car was bagged too. Liberty Walk is part of that culture "stance" culture.

Honestly the overall look doesn't bother as much as the craftsmanship shortcuts. The slammed look isn't for me either.

No suspension travel. It was not meant to drive. Supposed to put your hat on backwards, lean on it and try and look cool.

Think Justin Bieber and you get the idea.

After looking more at the larger pics on the link I think it would look much better if the flares were body colored. If so it would look more Michelotto inspired. I do like the black rims against the red.

Curios to see what else they did motor and interior wise.

Are these flares just riveted to the panels? Similar to the Bushwacker Fender flares for pickups? Or did they in fact cut the wheel opening?

The only people who ever managed to improve on Pininfarina's glorious 308 design with fender flares are Pininfarina! - And they called the car the 288 GTO!

I do like that deep rich red color, though.

I wonder if it's just the lighting.

This Koenig one looks a bit more integrated style wise...A bit of a more aggressive front spoiler and a rear ducktail and some sleek mirrors would look good if they left the rest alone, or a very minor fender flare. The GTO is not the best body style either, I don't think I have seen a true improvement over the original 308, most mods are just too extreme.

Did you see what Bieber did to his 458 he sold at BJ last year? Disgusting Liberty Walk kit installed. Ruined the car.

    Of course it is.

Anyone is free to get "Justin Bieber #MyBae" tattooed on their face, too. Doesn't mean people won't think you look stupid (because you would look stupid.)
