M y 348 carpet seems to have faded in a few spots the carpet is actually 3 colors when you remove the seats and mats you notice it. Seems fitted 348 carpets are not available. I understand dying the carpets does not work so well or so I am told. Certainly factory correct dye may be an issue as it is not black carpet.

Assuming one can find carpet kits cut to spec, if you install them are they glued down or how are they are not the OEM fitted ones? Anyone replaced carpet with new carpet that was not the form fitted fiber backed oem carpets? Straightforward or something an interior expert needs to do?

I am waiting to hear from GAHH/worlduph they no longer list them, local shops here in NJ can make them though.

GAHH does not have carpets for 348, I read as much back in 04 from here seems nothing changed so will need carpets made.
If anyone has in stalled pre-cut carpet set made to odder can you post details, I assume they need to be glued down around the lower door sills and foot area. Anything to watch out for?

I wasn’t able to find a molded carpet kit either so the shop that did my car made everything in pieces. You can see what I mean if you zoom into the passenger side footwell and also behind the driver’s seat. All pieces were bound at the edges, fit in place and then sewn together. They made custom floor mats with exactly the same materials. It was a lot of work but I’m very happy with the results.

    Wow, very nice indeed.

Btw, your door handle, it appears to be brushed nickle (from the photo). Wouldn't that be interesting? :)

Yes, I had the door handles and the targa latches done in Nickel during my refit of all my sticky parts.

That turned out quite good, I actually like it better than original. Mine is the same color, sent you a pm perhaps they kept patterns.

Thanks. Not sure if the kept the pattern but I would be surprised if they didn’t. The place is called Cutting Edge Designs in Stoneham MA. Great work. (781) 438-2379

I chatted with world uph earlier this year About my speciale. It would come in 11 parts as the molded ones are long gone. I do like the idea of ribbing on the edges but you'll get killed at Concours. In any event here's my convo... about $1200 USD was quoted.

"The joints will be in areas where the floors change direction sharply. Like the front floors, when the carpet goes up vertically. The pile of the carpet generally will hide the stitching because the carpet on the flat section will touch the carpet on the vertical section, so all you see is carpet. The stitching would be pretty much invisible unless you dig for it.

The problem when the floor changes direction sharply and you don’t put stitching in there is that it’s almost impossible to glue it down properly because carpet won’t bend that way unless you force it. When using a molding machine, you use the plastic underneath the carpet to force the carpet to bend.

I unfortunately currently do not have pictures of the finished carpet. There will only be 2 things different. The heel pad as I said we will only be using reproduction heel pads. Ferrari heel pads are heat pressed by a machine. If you notice, there is a flat section all around the edge. Ours won’t have that. It will just be ribbed all the way through (basically we use a ribbed rubber mat and cut it in the correct shape, noting fancy). The 2nd is the backing. We use felt instead of ribbed rubber. And as I said, if you send us your original floors, we can re-use the heel pad and maybe even the ribbed backing (depending on whether we can successfully detach the carpet from the ribbed backing without damaging the rubber).

Anyone install a kit? Re-Originals and WorldUPH do have kits for 348 currently. I know 308 and 328 guys use both those kits. Would be nice to see 348 kit installed. Both substantially better than the oem btw, both carpets look amazing one is not better than the other, they are quite different in look and feel. OEM carpet feels and fit like a potato sack.

opinions on the thicker vs thinner carpet?

The thinner one looks more silky the thicker one looks more plush. not sure which would look better. someone has an opinion.

Is 355 carpet like the thicker one?

I pulled my very faded carpet out and dyed it. It looks way better than it did, but it's still faded and pretty ugly. My 1990 has a bunch of random pieces glued down and there isn't a single molded piece. I've been planning on replacing the carpet by using the stock pieces as templates, but just haven't gotten around to it.

I got samples from a few places and picked what was the best for me. I ordered ReOriginals which is thick and dense (u can see it above the thicker one) with leather binding and door carpet binding. I'll sound deaden and foam mat the car to get it flat and hopefully the result comes out lush.

I'll post it when I get going. OEM carpet fits like a potato sack and is fairly awful. New carpet should make a nice impact visually.

Who'd you deal with at re-org?
I'm lining up my early spring projects and the carpet may be one. If its thicker maybe it will hide the seams better.

Matteo and Maeco are the only 2. yes its thicker than others, i believe the thickest. I also suspect it is in sections like Tom's in post #3 above. I sure hope so I like that better. Not certian but the description I got leads me to think so. Well see.

Toms place he uaed for custom is > 5 hour drive from me so i figured id do it myself.

I remember when I first bought my 348. It had no carpet, just the bare floor. So I ordered a set online. They looked great, black with yellow horse but the bloody things constantly shifted around and folded towards the pedals. I HATED them after awhile. Finally what I did was go to an office supply store and bought that big plastic floor cover. The firm stuff that sits under an office chair. It’s smooth on one side and has those poking things on the other side that stick down into the carpet and stop it from shifting. So I cut to the shape of the carpets and contact
cement it so the poking things are down. Now they are firm, never lose shape or shift. It’s excellent. ( just a tip for anyone who may be having the same problem)

That's actually clever, when I get floor mats I will remember that tip. Very good!
btw in my case I am not talking carpet savers or floor mats I am looking to replace actual full interior carpet, floors, behind seats doors all of it. THEN I'll make custom fit carpet mats and remember your tip for that!

Re-originals finally found the carpet and it was shipped by boat. Re-originals is sending it to me in bulk. I will have to wait till winder to have them make a kit with the carpet since its driving season now in the NE.

Look at the carpet, they all fade as they were not colorfast mine is like 3 colors and the carpet fits like a potato sack, look bu the drivers left foot. ugh. Can't Wait to change that out. New leather going on the doors as we speak.

OK I got my carpet from Re-ORiginals. WorldUPH and others will have carpet but it's shorter pile, this is the same as the original but far far more dense which flops over due to lack of density and looks thin. Of course carpet comes in batches and has thus has variance this batch was little lighter and a little more orange in the tan and a little less brown in it.

This is under LED flood lights and indoors so the color is a bit different than it is to the eye but you can see the quality, it is plush and smooth. You literally do not see the pile. It is luxurious like the picture of troppoveloce interior previous page. This is driving season in NE so install will have to wait till winter.

Those aren't my actual sills those are spares I had satin powder coated to see the result.

Powder coated Satin black sills with new inlays. They were double sided taped down so getting them up with out bending or creasing was a b**ch. I have a spare powercoated set if anyone ruins theirs.

Ugh look at that carpet . Definitely think new carpet makes a bigger impact than new leather.

Curious if you have the new carpet in and you worked in all the creases and curves.

Ferrarium, did you get your carpet installed? Can you post photos?
I just received a roll of carpet from Re Originals and am now looking for an installer in Sacramento. I'd appreciate a referral if anyone has one.
