    Among street Ferraris, I'm told that the 365GTC/4 has the best note. Among cars that I have owned, the 206SP S/N 002 was the best. The first time I drove it, shifting "by ear", I glanced at the tach and it showed 10,000 RPM. Scared me, but I later learned the 10,000 is OK for that engine. Wish I had a recording to share.

    Had a C/4 for 15 years and wish I still did. Eliminated the center section mufflers, which made the car a little louder but not much. The wail at 6,000 RPM was the best I ever experienced in a Ferrari. If anyone out there owns 15693, I have a few stories to share!

    The emphasis of this thread is on engine sound at high rev, naturally. But if you have heard a Lampredi V12 at idle, while warming up, that is a a marvelous thing in itself.
