I have a set of sport seats in my 99 360 and I never liked the condition of the driver's seat when I bought it. It looks like someone tried restoring it and had no clue what they were doing. I haven't looked into taking it to a leather shop to see if they can rectify it or not, but what are our options on putting new skins on them? Is one looking at having to have it done custom? A quick google search brings up nothing of value (at least with my keywords).

Mate mine were not this bad but I recently did a seat out renovation of them. Came out so so well. Fell in love with the car again after this job.

Step1. Remove the seats if you can.

Step 2. Use the eatherique rejuvenator oil. 250ml
Is enough for 2 seats. Use gloves and apply this with your hands. Be liberal with this stuff. Let the oil dwell for atleast 3 days. I did it for 5 days and wrapped the seats in garbage bags then left them outside (undercover) in the Australia summer. Trick is to get them hot 30c+ for as long as possible.
Wipe this product off with damp terry cloths at the end of step 1 process. This will remove a lot but not all of the dirt. Make sure to keep using clean damp cloths.

Step2. Use gyeon leather cleaner inplace of the leatherique cleaner. Spray this on liberally in one section at a time and work gently with a Swissvax leather brush for 30 seconds then wipe off with a damp terry towel. This stuff dries quickly and will get tacky so wipe off before it dries. Do one small section at a time, Eg lower bolster, scrub then wipe. Scrub then wipe. Upper bolster scrub then wipe. Etc. keep going till the towels stop picking up dirt. After you’ve done both seats let dry overnight. If you need to do any leather redying (colorlock or swissvax products are recommended) do this now. Seats should now be beautifully clean and have a great matte finish. This cleaning step should take around 1 hour per seat. You will need atleast 15-20 clothes. Once they’re dirty set them aside to put in the wash. Do not reuse. I used around 10 per seat and did one seat in one day, washed and dried the clothes then reused them for the next seat.

Wait 12 hours for the leather to fully dry then wipe the seats down with 1z cockpit premium. This will remove any residual gyeon cleaner.

Step 3. Use swissvax elephant fat preserver to rehydrate the leather. Apply this using your hands in gloves. Relatively generously but make sure it’s evenly applied. This will have an awful greasy oily finish but have faith! Then use a hairdryer slowly and closely to warm
Up the wax and help it absorb into the leather. This should take 5 mins per seat to apply and 15 mins per seat to warm up.

    Leave this for 3-5 days.

Step 4. Remove the elephant fat with dry terry clothes. Go over each seat very thoroughly to remove all remaining wax being sure to change clothes as they get clogged up. Use 1z cockpit premium if you find the clothes drag and the product hard to remove.

I also did the leatherique/gyeon scrubbing combo on the door cards and door trims too. Came up like new.

You are done and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do this years sooner!! After the wax is removed it may take a few days for all the blemishes to die down but they will and that beautiful matte finish will return.

I’ve used stacks of products in my time and the combination of these products and brands worked the best in my experience. Good luck!
