So I've had my 458 since August and put almost 2,500 miles on her since then. It's time to start shopping for a new car for the '19 season and I'm a bit conflicted on what to do. Here are my options I've found so far so would love for anyone to chime in if they have experience with the cars mentioned or any other suggestions I have not listed below.

    1. Huracan Perfomante- This is on top of my list for a few reasons. The have started to depreciate like crazy, I know of multiple ones for sale in the $275k range that have $50k+ in options and low miles ( <3,000). Insane looks and perfomance and I've had seat time during the Urus launch party back in April of '18 and a few track days. Also would be my first Lambo :)

    2. 458 Speciale- I would have to go the Spec instead of the SpecA because of price alone and the fact that even if I could someone make the numbers work on an Aperta, I would not be able to drive it without taking a bath in value. The Speciale looks so good especially in Rosso Corsa with white/blue stripes and can be had for about $350-$375k; a bit more than the Perf but I don't expect it to lose as much compared to the Perf.

    3. Porsche 911 GT3RS v1- This car honestly makes the most amount of sense at least financially because it would be a near straight swap or my 458 + $30k at MOST for nearly any spec. Again, amazing perfomance but it just doesn't have the curb appeal as a Ferrari or a Lambo. Would be a great option as a daily or a secondary car, but I can't see myself having it as my only exotic.

    4. McLaren 570 Spider/458 Spider- I live in Nebraska so having a convertible is a rather dumb idea, especially paying a $30-$50k premium for having the top off 2-3 months out of the year but I really miss having a convertible (owned a BMW Z4, best $25k I ever spent). I can get a 458 Spider for around $200k and a 570 spider is even less than that.

Right now it's looking about 50% chance of a Perf, 25% chance of a Speciale, 10-15% of the GT3RS, and the rest towards a spider.

Would love any input you guys have regarding the cars mentioned above and any suggestions of anything else I should look at!

def not a GT3RS, the values are still sinking and it's a rather boring car vs a ferrari unless you track it. Mclaren sounds like crap so that's kinda missing the point with the spider. If you miss having a spider get another spider in addition to the 458, switching italia for a spider is too small a change despite better sound. Maybe a huracan spider or r8 spider to pair with the 458. Performante would be good but doesnt look at beautiful as the 458, but that's all subjective lol, and besides, they will prob only drop more in value

Performante = will continue to depreciate like crazy. There are too many of them

Speciale if you are worried about depreciation. Huracan perf if you want something different but won't mind losing more money

I wasn’t happy going Italia to Speciale.
Speciale to 458 Spider I enjoyed much better.
    Enjoying Perf Spider now.
A 720 spider with serious exhaust upgrades perhaps.
    No to 488.
Aventador is cool if you can live with that transmission.
Gt3 I haven’t owned. Not in same league but nice track car.

    458 is hard to replace.

"458 is hard to replace." is one of the truest statements I've heard in a while. If I lived in California or FL, I would opt for a Spider without doubt, but not in Nebraska... It's a bit more conflicted living here. Can't do the Aventador with the transmission. Good buddy of mine owned a regular Aventador, SV, and an S and I still can't stomach the lower speeds.

Sadly my finances do not allow for a Pista let alone a Speciale and a Pista haha, maybe by the time I turn 30 I can keep 2 ponies in the stable! Gorgeous spec on that Speciale, exactly what I'd get myself.

You think the 3RS is going to go below the $160-$165 range? I've only ever been in a 2014 GT3 and liked the car, but wasn't really in LOVE with it. Can't do a Huracan spider cause I hate soft tops. Same goes for the R8 spider. Seems like dealers are having fire sales on Perfomantes, especially with the EVO coming out, even though it's not a direct competitor to the Perf.

Well isn't the Beetle made by VW too? Haha, I agree with you there, the Porsche has the least amount of curb appeal of the cars on that list.

Too scared of maintenance and didn't really grow up in the era of the 16M. As a kid, I had 458s and Gallardos on my wall.

If there is one car that's going to absolutely tumble in value, it's the 488. I test drove one and while the interior and exterior are steps above the 458, the sound is lacking and the value proposition isn't there. How do you like your GT R?

    Speciale.

Mclaren is dull. V10 lambo's are a bit...meh. GT3RS is awesome but no match for the Speciale in how special it is/makes you feel. Porsche I'd have if you spend half your time (seriously) at the track.

it's only a matter of time. They are already in the 170s, 160 prob at trade. Flippers are unloading the .2GT3 at 180s so that kinda hurt the .1RS values..and there's so many of them for sale

    1. Performante still has margin to lose in 2019 so 10-15% in year is definitely in play.
    2. 458 Spec are another class of expensive and thereby harder to get in and out of without an upgrade trade. Total dollar depreciation probably the least.
    3. .1 RS will bottom out at $160K or so. It's a lot of car for the money. Can be bought for $175K easy now for low mile cars.
    4. 570S spiders still have a dip coming. 458s are stiffening up in price. I have been shopping with low offers and losing out on cars.

I always use autotrader or cars.com total listings as a guide. Lots of cars, lots of options.

675LTs seem like a really good price now. should be bottom.

I dont see 488 Spider on your list. Any reason?
Just received my 488 Spider, and it is one of the best car in my opinion.

Fun, easy to drive, looks great and aggressive, sound is amazing (once you open the valve permanently).

You can enjoy the sound even if you dont open the hardtop by simply lowering the rear window. only couple of inches from your ear to the Ferrari Music ;)

    Porsche is so boring.

Mclaren looks sexy but i did not enjoy the test drive much. 458 is much better than this one IMO.

Huracane Perf. Never tried it before so cannot comment on this one.

Hmmm intersting...I do know of a 3k mile red 488 2018 that cld be bought for 240ish which seems crazy low and is at a Ferrari dealer...but i love sound too hence would hesitate on 488..will drive one this wknd..I actually do love the gtr..crazy fast and has a serious presence..it’s a very wide car...I do have a manual LP 550-2 I’m considering selling for either a perf/aventador/488(depends on test drive)
Funny I actually bought the gtr in Nebraska! Ha

    Thx.

These were the ones at $300k+ with dealers laughing at offers. I remember thinking great buy at $150k. Not there yet. Wonder when.

My Perf is for sale after owning it for a year. Great car and presence, great exhaust note (a bit artificial on downshifts), handling a bit numb, gear shifts imperceptibly fast.
Replaced it with the Speciale and I ain’t looking back. For me, direct steering, hence better feel, lighter handling, perfect balance, DCT still feel shifts (nice for me), F1 sound is epic (will do full IPE exhaust).
Speciale and Perf to me are near polar opposites. It really is what feel you are after.

Holy smoke you got a Gated manual LP550-2, I sold my last year and I miss it so much. There are only 59 of these in the States.

488 is certainly worth taking a look at low $200k range. It is a lot car for the money, pretty darn fast and comfortable. I like the sound with exhaust valves disabled. On your LP550-2, if it has stock exhaust, then you know how quiet it is below 2500rpm, 488 is like that. Disable the valve on both, increase the fun factor dramatically. If I were to replace my 488, it would be Performante or 600LT. Mainly because I daily drove 488 for over a year already and Performante and 600LT just looks a bit more special to me.

I do recommend Aventador as well. I always thought the ISR single clutch is slow and uncomfortable prior of driving one base on readings, so I never gave it a chance until my business partner picked up a SV and explained pro and con of the car. I then went and test drove S and thought the shift is so slow at lower rpm when driving normally compare to 488. Driving it fast, it shifts stupid fast and violent. The sound it makes needs no explanation. Want to cruise in comfort just lift throttle between each shift like you are driving a manual car. Then it is smooth as butter.

A few months later I test drove 16 Aventador (pre-S) out of curiously. I was really surprised by how much I liked the car, it was so hard for me to walk away without buying the car that day. Eventually I picked up SV and just love driving it.
