Great write ups. Makes me want to test an F12. Just to correct a post further up above, you can’t simply add an exhaust kit to a 911 and make it sound great. Not in comparison to any of the real sports cars.
You are completely right. The article below is the narration of an obsessed owner describing the experience (Saga) while he was trying to improve the sound of his GT3. He installed nine different exhaust versions and wasn't happy with the sound of none of them and a tenth was on the way. When one looks at the example of the tone of a violin it's clear it comes from many different aspects; the wood, the strings, the height of the fingerboard, the adjustment of the soundpost, even the kind of chinrest affects sound quality. Many have tried already without success to replicate the sound of a Stradivarius or the Guarnerius and I think there is a certain analogy with Ferrari's engines. There are things in life that can't be replicated leaving the original as the only option.
You should test drive it. Dynamically, imagine an M3 (coupe from the good days) turned up to 10,000. In case you haven't watched it...
I wish that were so. I am getting ready to move mine after my 812 comes in May. I am thinking that it will likely transact at around $240ish (a respectable 2014 with a $493,951 MSRP and forecasted to have sub-3000 miles). Hopefully I am wrong.
You may be right. I only performed a quick Autotrader search and middling specs are about 240-260kusd. Low 200’s I’d have to start thinking seriously. Hard to find great spec with race seats.
That is true. When buying my used F12, I searched far and wide for racing seats and finally gave up. I did spec my new 812 in racing seats.
I had the same issue during my F12 search last year, and actually spoke to a few dealers about the reason why there are none to be found. They all basically said: "The F12 is a GT car and most GT drivers want a comfortable, adjustable seat with heat, etc." I actually found this ironic because after sitting in both the electric and race seats, I thought the race seats were more comfortable per my taste. I ended up buying a Tdf -- problem solved!
I just love this F12 video. Has subtitles but the passion and excitement are phenomenal. Worth watching if you haven’t seen. I have a 2018 MT GT3 as well, no comparison to the stately ferocity of the F12.
Thank you great video this Korean one. The F12 bi-polar personality doesn't stop impressing me. Yesterday it was a dry sunny day and I drove mine for 100 Km and happened to pass on an empty motorway. In one of the straights that is at least 7 Km, I pressed the accelerator down to the very bottom and it was so amazing how that V12 engine reacted so instantaneously producing incredible acceleration and sound. Despite having done that already many times, each time I'm always impressed like if it was the first one by the way the F12 reaches 300 Km/hour so easily. Contrary to the majority of other fast road sports cars it continuous to 310, 320, 330 and 340 Km/hour without denoting the minimum fatigue or loss in power. It's like a jet plane taking-off. On roads with curves and good dry asphalt the F12 is also like fish in water and I find it very difficult to describe the sensation one gets while controlling that very direct steering , the accelerator pedal and the paddles, being able to position the front of the car with absolute precision while the rear is moving around or not according to one's driving skills and courage. The F12 Berlinetta started being designed in 2009, was launched in 2012 and it's technology is already seven years old. Despite of that still is one of the most powerful road cars in existence and the car superb drive train isn't outdated at all.
Holy **** that is a high MSRP on an F12. Was it tailor made etc? These flagship cars are getting way too expensive. $500K Pista, $600K SVs... huge price inflation in the segment.
Highly entertaining. They did a great job of capturing the beautiful engine note. The Asian Chris Harris, without all the hooting and hollering! ... thanks for sharing!
Great video! I must have seen this before because I remember his shirt and his reference to how his granny can handle it and then... muhahahaha!! What a sound!
Oh no!!!!!! Meant $403 MSRP, not $493.... Total knucklehead. And I always self edit, but I total missed the runway on this one.
Ha! No worries. As a hunt-and-peck typist, I feel your pain, and have done it many times myself. Regards Mike
