Does anyone know if the Nouvalari super sport exhaust for a F355 has different levels of sound with the exhaust bypass open and closed?

The reason I ask is I installed this exhaust and my bypass is wired open. It’s too loud when just cruising or going through the neighborhood. Is it worth buying a working bypass valve, (I’m thinking a capristo valve with remote)? Would it make any difference? Please note I’m also running test pipes (no cats)

    Thanks!

Just an idea - unwire the bypass valve and go for a sedate drive to hear it first hand.

Good idea, but I put the stock exhaust back on for the time being.

It sounds incredible, nice high pitched scream. I think it’s the best sounding exhaust for a F355, I prefer it to a Capristo. My car is a spider and if anything it’s too loud.

    hi,

ive been running the Nouvalari Supersport on my 355 for 4 seasons..

it was the very first item I bought after picking up my car.. within couple weeks. I could barely tolerate that my car still had the stock exhaust.
the stock exhaust is an absolute piece of garbage, with so many aftermarket options, quieter and louder I don't know how anyone who owns a 355 would still have the stock 100lbs exhaust on there. you could cut it in half and make a nice BBQ drum out of it..

    ok sorry about that lol...

indeed the nouvalari is one of the best and cheapest exhaust option for the F355. its close.. but wouldn't say exactly comparable to a capristo..

my bypass valve is functional, and the exhaust offers clear distinction in sound/pitch once the valve opens..

so yes.. you can solve your always loud issue with a functioning bypass valve.

I also picked up the 5.2 nouvalari no cats Y-pipe over the winter, very nice piece.. at literally 1/3 the price of competitors.

Kreissieg exhaust is the best sounding if your chasing tone, If your looking for cost its hard to beat the Superformace or Nouvalari and add the bypss if you want it louder under throttle. In my though opinon Nouvalari, Capristo and Tubi and ESPECIALLY the FabSpeed all sounds like a boat or muscle car at lower rpm's. Not so with the Kreissieg. Good luck what ever you do!

Had the Nouvalari on my 360 years ago and had the same experience as the folks here with the 355s. Sound is awesome, lighter and better built than stock and fairly priced.

Did you find put why the bypass valve did not work? There is a multitude of possible reasons. I went through them all on my car.
Vacuum system beeing nr 1. Check calves from inyake manifold was seized on mine. Solenoid valve leaked as well.
The actual membrane that drives the exhaust valve mechanism is easy to test.. apply vacum to the hose.

Its a distinct sound difference when it open and closed. I have supersport exhaust and its perfect. But with open valve its too loud for cruising long trips.

I bought my 1998 spider in 2012 and put 20k miles on it soooo i did major service spring 2017 (and clutch) ,private garage, $14,000. Ouch. The catalytic converters needed replaced so I figured might as well do the aftermarket exhaust and Glen sold me the super sport Nouvulari and cats. The thing runs like a scalded dog. Completely bullet proof. Awesome sound when running through the gears but drone at highway speeds is fatiguing and pretty loud at idle. My wife doesn’t like riding in it. Hmmmm, get rid of her or the car?

In any case, how would i know whether the bypass valve is working or not?

You should hear the sound change around 3500 rpm

At 3500 it "bypasses" the muffler making it quite loud and obnoxious. Like exhaust flappers on a muscle car.

the are two way to tell if your bypass is functional..

have someone look down into the hole where you can see the valve.. rev/blip the throttle and you can see the rod move up/down.

or while driving.. cruise in 4th gear.. under 3k rpms.. and then accelerate. when rpms get to above 3500 you will hear the valve open, and the exhaust gets louder..

    That will not work.
Valve operation is instructed by an ECU.
It will open under certain criterias only.
Car must be in gear and moving. It will only open at certains throttle pos over 70 or 80 percent ish.
Easiest is to accelerate hard in third. 100 percent throttle. Then let off throttle to about 30 50 percent and. You will hear the valve is open for about 2 3 seconds then closes with a distinct muting of the sound.
