If I had to pick one, Id definitely have chosen the white one over the red. Those wheels make it look like a replica . Interesting that at BJ another 1000 mile TR sold for more than the 139 Mile car at Gooding. Dont forget, the buyer pays an additional 10% on the hammer price on any of these cars. So the white car sold for $143k, the red for $132k .

Could it be that some people are prepared to live with some defects / cosmetics in order to have car that they can really use over a garage queen? I’m not (yet) a TR owner but it seems to me that the interior noted above isn’t ‘beat’ and far away from one that a farm vehicle displays. If you wanted a fairly tidy driver then why not?

You are absolutely correct - as long as the car is represented without deceit and priced accordingly.

If the seat was the only deficiency I might agree but in the case of one of these cars it seems from evidence here the mileage claim is off by a very large margin and based on visible wear and tear I strongly suspect the same with the other. I am in the business of helping people get into cars they "can really use" and from experience neither of these fits that description.

One thing to know what you are getting and another entirely to have a car completely misrepresented and not priced accordingly.

Either way you choose to go history is full of cases of a bargain priced Ferrari costing far more in the long run than just purchasing good up front and there is no good reason for that lesson to need to be learned over and over.

I think the buyers were not educated and looked at miles as opposed to doing their due dilligence. That and booze misleading them.
