why is it though? they all use same huge mpsc tires, lsd, tc, lc, etc so why do the domestics have so much trouble w traction? is it designed to be that way to cater to Americans wanting to burn rubber and spin donuts?

From my GT500's standpoint, it's under-tired and weight distribution is very front end biased. It also doesn't have traction control, but does have launch control. It's pretty old school, which has its pros/cons.

The Hellcat was grossly under tired. GT500 wasn’t much better. But the new ‘ vettes and Camaros seem to be sticking pretty well. They are whispering 0-60 under 4 seconds so it must get something right.
I also wonder if it’s just the power delivery of American engines, which typically have more low end torque. Thought that’s been changing lately as well.
I think if I could only choose one, the GT350 is more my style. But it looks like an awesome step up for Mustangs.

It does have that look, but after my recent back to back drives in a Z06/Grandsport (both gearshifts L2), I came away thinking that the Grandsport was so much more balanced than the Z06, in fact it was impossible to use the Z06's powerband properly on the streets, unless you wanted to act like a maniac. In fact the Grandsport is on my next up list.

Gt 500 cool car and I'm glad it exists, but its just not on my wanna have list. As a general road car I think the hellcat is just better, its got room and like others have said already more power than you can put down. For backroads or "track" the Gt350 the way to go. However on the Gt350 I think the flat plane is a gimick because the counterweights for such big displacement negate the benefit in terms of fast reving. The bent crank and bigger displacement in the Gt500 would make my ideal Gt350 Na motor, that and the Gt350 needs no eps.

The mustangs look great, but to me you're still dealing with the crappy stang ineterior(both material and execution) and the sitting on not in the car feel, fine at 25-30K not at 60+k. I think that vettes while improved for the C7 still have the same issue, seriously if hyundai can make a quality feeling ineterior so can the domestics.

Still we must rejoice that such cars exist, in the 70's and 80's no one would believe such a thing could be.

Cool car, I'm curious to see how it will handle against the ZL1. The Hellcat is nice but it's a pure muscle car and somewhat of a boat. The previous generation ZL1 handled great and I hear the current one is amazing, even though the ZL1 has had less power.

And yeah congrats to Ford for making a DCT happen. That's going to change the game a bit for American cars.

I'm going into test drive a Mustang GT with a 6 speed, then if I like it buy it and add a Roush supercharger (just 0ver 700hp, 3/36 powertrain warranty). If you get the Performance pack 2 you get a wide square setup with Cup 2 tires (though I suspect that tramlines like anything). Its a fun car for under 60K. I'd rather have a Hellcat Charger (the 4 door) but it can't take much more tire--fender flares (as on the Challenger) would help that, but thus far FCA hasn't been interested in doing that.

Makes me sad that Caddy discontinued the CTS-V coupe, I didn't realize how much I liked it until it was gone. For me, if the American makers could figure out a way to incorporate awd into some of these animals I'd be there quicker. I just prefer awd as a dd then not.
Another thing is competition among the big 3 (if they're still called that). They seem to one up another after each new debut...

That was I thought when dealing with a 600hp daily driver AWD is pretty nice...In my business i need a bigger car for daily driving like the E63S,CTV sedan or other ....I changed to the E63S when cad prices got so high and were still just rear whell drive....
But this Mustang would make for a nice fun car....for a fair price....

I think the GT350 and GT350R aesthetically are the best. This car looks like an Audi with a bad body kit.

    Agree.

Been waiting a long, long time for the new Mustang GT500 with a DCT and we finally have it, but the body kit is just meh compared to GT350R. Disappointed.

Dodge just announced a widebody. 275's to to 305's. 30 mm of tread width should help.

^ That will help, a little. Drag radial would be much more of an improvement than a regular 305 tire. (But of course a 305 drag radial better yet)

No. Apparently cant yet but who knows with different dealers.
I'm undecided given how bad it sounds relative to the last GT350R

I bought a used GT350 intending to enjoy it for a bit and resell it, but I kinda fell in love with it. The steering is the best part, probably some of the best feel in any modern car I have had the chance to drive. On track, the thing is just a hoot, definitely a handful, but extremely capable. I love the motor, it really does feel and sound special, and I the last 1000 rpm are just magical.
The interior has some cheap feeling bits, but the seats are perfect - I can't believe they spec'd such a narrow seat in the US. So checking off the list: motor, tranny, chassis, steering, seats, brakes... And I can fold down the rear seats and put a mountain bike in the boot? I think I will live with a bit of plastic. Especially since I won't ever have to send it to sticky-no-more.

Saw the GT500 at Barrett-Jackson auction Scottsdale, it looks far better in person than the posted pictures/links.

I just drove home my new 2018 GT350 yesterday (190 miles). So I have just over 24 hours in the car, but I am very very impressed. Yes, if I think about it their are embarrassing interior bits, as well as things that work only so well (the access to the rear seats is one thing--seat back release located in the seat center, not at the edge, and you have to push back slightly on the seat first before it will spring forward). I drove all manner of GT's before doing this, and this car in terms of the driving experience is just more than the sum of its parts. And it has some cool things, like configurable heads up display shift lights (there is otherwise no other HUD stuff), which you can select alert RPM, different ways the lights display/flash, and a tone played through the car's stereo speakers. If you track it all the time you likely wouldn't need these, but for occasional track days or even on the street I like 'em. And it is super quick to turn them on/off. I like the Ford Sync 3 better than the iDrive in my wife's X1.

Solve the back seat issue by having the rear seat delete option installed. No more problem.
