Made a deal 2 days ago to get a 488 GTB. The original owner went a little crazy with the options list ticking almost every single option, including the exorbitantly priced upgraded leather floor mat option.

Like the rest of the leather in the car, the floor mat leather didn't seem too sturdy at all. The car has only 370 miles and is pretty much perfect. However, there were some wear marks on the leather portion of the floor mats.

Does anyone have this option and has put over 10k miles on the car? Does the leather on the floor mats show any gashes over time like I think it will?

Since it seems hard to avoid touching the leather strip with your shoes when getting in, I'm almost thinking of putting clear plastic over the leather portion like the youtuber Rob Ferretti did on his 488. As much as that reminds me of those old granny couches with plastic over them...

Can you post a picture of those mats?

My car will be delivered later this week or early next... But I've attached a picture of the mats I'm talking about. This is not my car and was taken from a sales listing I found on google. As you can see from the pic, it seems hard to avoid hitting that area with your shoe.

To make matters worse it seems they use the same kind of delicate leather that they use on the seats. Imagine how your seats would look if you had to step on them daily!

The all leather aftermarket floor mats seems so much more sturdy from the pics I've seen posted on this site.

    I got your point.

I was actually checking with my dealer to buy these mats. They look cool with Ferrari Stitching.

Gonna try them and give you a feedback.

Btw, i think you can you remove them right?

Yes you can remove and take them out of the car just like any other floor matts. They look great but I'd never pay for this option, much rather get aftermarket that looks even better, less than half the price, and looks way sturdier.

I get the feeling the leather strip will be tore up pretty badly after 10k miles unless I implement a firm 'no shoes' policy lol!

These are the original regular mats you can order with the car. Just don't step on the outer leather part and they will be good for many thousands of miles. I'd never order a car without them - We're talking about a 300k car. Even that white stripe on the seat was more expensive that these two mats.

Oh boy going to really have to be careful getting in the car to avoid rubbing the side bolsters on the seats as well as the leather strip on floor mats...

I guess that's just one of the joys of Ferrari ownership :)

Still worlds easier than getting into a Mclaren - you should see how the leather seats on those cars get crushed/rubbed heavily after 10k miles since you can't really eloquently ingress.

Look up exoticare. They are on this site. They make some great aftermarket floor mats that look like OEM.

You might want to get in the car like a female. Plant your arse first then swing your legs over :) Much less stress on the bolster

The upgraded spec factory floor mats with leather insert tend to wrinkle and scuff very easily.
The are literally stitching a strip of leather insert on top of the carpet.

This is what happens if the mats are not cared for very well. (Attached)
They tend to wrinkle and lift away, and the stitching is loose as there isn't any glue below..

I make some very unique Hybrid leather designs for them.
Ultra durable and matching all interior spec colors, and stitching.
All weather and scuff and scratch resilient.

    DM for details.
