If prices take a big hit then there would be plenty of folks posting about how they got a great deal etc etc so maybe even more threads than now?
I like what your saying here. If anyone wants to get another perspective on their Ferrari and get a true price perspective call an exotic car dealer or several. I didn’t own a 512tr prior to Oct of last year so after watching them for some time I thought I had a good perspective on their value. I tended to want to value them higher than what they really were. Last year at some point I called a local exotic car dealer in Burlingame who has listed and sold many Ferrari’s including very nice 512trs. I watched them have them for sale over the years. I called them and told them I had one for sale. I told them i have a 1992 512tr with 8k miles one owner car with all records. Perfect car and services all just done including major. It didn’t need tires etc. This guy says I’m really interested in selling your car and he asks me what do you want for it. I told him around 200k and he laughed quite a while. He said do you see all of the current 512trs for sale in the 200k range with ultra low miles, do you notice they never move. Good luck he says. I said at that time what do you think it’s really worth then? Around 180k give or take. The lesson here is always try and verify what your perspective is on a car. There’s ways of doing it where you can get a fair, balanced perspective. But again wishing something so won’t make it so. Again, no one with any amount of large net worth is trying to make a bunch of money off of trading cars unless he is a dealer or already ultra wealthy car collector. The one I know of has turned is love into a business. A dealer and car collector. Many people here know cars very well but have admitted they can’t make much money off of their car purchases. This is the norm not the exception. It’s very helpful to know the value of a car when buying but that’s it. Cars are horrible investments. I know car salesmen will like to tell everyone this is the best investment u can make. If they really believed that they wouldn’t be selling the car to you. Don’t be delusional about their values.
Zeff, I will say, you really have a great perspective on these cars. I feel the same way about them and that's why I drive them. I make money in business to enjoy the car....not buy one and fret about every mile I put on it because it diminishes the value. If one uses an inflation calculator, one will really see how close to breaking even they are even if they think they're making some money on it. ....and I totally agree....worst investment period....now fun factor, so much yesssss. Yep....my 91 Testarossa is a super solid car. While I'm a Lamborghini guy and prefer my former Diablo VT Roadster and current Murcielago Roadster over it, I can't they they match the reliability of the Testarossa....it's just such a damn well engineered and built car. As for all those miles ...I've enjoyed them. I bought it with the typical 8,000 miles and have put all the rest myself. This including when I left the car in the garage untouched for 6 1/2 years....because I just didn't feel like driving it anymore....only looking at it The boring paddle shift of my Murcielago Roadster brought me back to the car. I hope they go to zero so pe I agree with everything you said. I’ve been driving mine on the weekends when I have time. Not worrying about the miles anymore
U have a loooong way to go before your reach shamile’s mileage though There is one on eBay currently with 97,000miles! Poor electronics because primitive but very reliable indeed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah Shamile daily drives his which is impressive. He’s living the lifestyle and dream in my humble opinion. I hope to be more like him
I was going to double like this Shamile, but I can't due to the whole 6 and a half year layoff part! Hehe I guess the next question is, are you going to take her past 100?
lol....this coming from the guy that can blow $100k in a weekend....I want to be more like you ! I believe in using "the fine china and silverware" everyday....not saving it for special occasions. Also, with cars, you really need to drive them. It just makes them work better and are more reliable. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
The 6 1/2 year thing was because I just preferred my Diablo VT Roadster. That car was perfect....fast, gated shift, open top and the most exotic of exotics in its design. It was also quite reliable....did all the maintenance myself on the car. With the Murcielago Roadster, while exquisite in fit, finish and details, the lack of a gated shift and always having to go to the dealership for every little thing has brought me back full circle to the Testarossa. It's slow, clunky but it sure feels right. 100k miles is no problem on this car. It's super reliable. If it was owned by someone that didn't want to work on anything, it might be frustrating. But, I like doing my own general maintenance and upkeep. 100,000 miles here I come! Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
That's with the engine shut off. I went into the garage to snap the picture and had to turn on the dash lights. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using FerrariChat.com mobile app
It’s the best car ever it’s not that slow! Still pretty darn fun! I think it’s just the gearbox ratio might be too long because there is power decent power at least Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Honestly Nat, after a Diablo and Murcielago, the Testarossa is really really slow in terms of acceleration. Not only that but the gear box can't even keep up with the engine. You just can't shift the car fast....and I wouldn't recommend anyone try. I have 68k miles and no transmission, gear or broken quill shaft issues. You have to take the car for what it is and drive it to it's max without harming it. For me that means full out clutch then hammering it to redline on every shift..but feeling the gear so you don't just jam it in the next gear. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Agreed but u know my s63 coupe is also super fast but it’s like too fast—-on the same road the TR used to scare the crap out of me going 20miles slower. That’s the great thing about the old girl Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep...that's the problem with the 458 and modern exotics to me. They have no feel unless you're going illegally fast lol Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Shamile love your posts. I'm sure you've spoke on this topic many times, but is your car still running with the original diff? Sorry for bringing this up here, but just want to hear from a guy who uses his car frequently and drives it properly!
Don't tell me you let off the throttle between shifts! Just give the clutch a quick jab and grab the next gear I have a billet diff and gear set here with your name on it lol The main shaft you'll need to source yourself
That term was "Big League". That is how Trump used it and mispronounced by media to make him look bad. Amazing it continues.
people who are infatuated with price and price bashing but dont own a single car have love? not sure how that works...
