ISM looks very unfinished to me. Looks like some designer submitted what they had at the due date.
My buddy who is a big truck guy was going off on how bad the GM interiors were in the 80 thousand dollar trucks at the auto show. like for five minutes straight.
A step back from what is currently in production, not advancing with the competition, or just generally not what you'd expect given the price point? All the best, Andrew.
In regards to Peter's GM/Cadillac take, I find that they maintain the ability to design gorgeous automobiles, as illustrated by a myriad of drool worthy Cadillac concepts over the last 15 years, but simply choose not to incorporate those designs into a production portfolio. It's this choice that baffles me. The list is long of exciting concepts that would have turned x y z buyer into a Cadillac buyer, including me, but somewhere along the line, some one/committee kills it. And that's the "Hey, we can do this, but don't" attitude that I find maddening. And brand design cohesion, hell, not even in one car can you find design cohesion. My hope is someone grabs the tiller and returns Cadillac to glory, which ever year that was.
In home building, we call this canine design. Picture a group of dogs in a circle sniffing each other’s butt. We had a plan called a treehouse. It was an upside down house. The kitchen, living, and master was upstairs, the kids went downstairs. It sold like hot cakes at a premium. Our competitors stole the plan and bombed. What they didn’t understand was we only built one at the end of a culdesac, maybe one in 15 plans. Ah, canine design, so easy to beat. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

That was the 1st thing I commented on when we walked up to the interior. My design partner cracked up. Call 'em as I see um.
Going back to canine design resulting in Hondas looking like Mercedes, you gotta hand it to Porsche. When you see one, there is no doubt you’re looking at a Porsche. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I know excessive "side sculpting" has been discussed before. Saw one of these today in blue and the side reminded me of a boat being tossed about in rough seas. Can you say seasick? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Although, a lot of the really crazy flame surfacing came after his time at BMW. His design signature, to me, was the integration of the lights into the bodyline, wrapping around the corners, and the lines separating the trunk from the rest of the car (i.e. The Bangle Butt). I think his variant of the 6-series has aged well. All the best, Andrew.
Oh gosh, I think his 6 series is one of the ugliest cars in the past 20 years. It looks like its on Xanax.
I really didn't like it when it first came out, it was a bit of a shock to the system. I'm something of a slow adopter and tend to really warm up to some designs towards the end of their production cycles. Things cars like Bangle's 6-series and John's CTS are good examples. I wasn't ready for either when they first came out, they were each pretty bold, but now really appreciate them both. I hope that comes across as the compliment I intended, John. All the best, Andrew.
