I think McLaren did a very good job and it's surprising that such a young company makes cars better than Ferraris. I have a Ferrari 458 Italy and I now ordered a McLaren 600lt spider
Probably you ordered wrong sticker on your car. It's "458 Italia" in the whole civilized world. It is surprising for me as well. I just can't believe what I have read here
That is just the opinion of Evo. Other mags have expressed the polar opposite. If you watch the video, one hack says that it is too well resolved for its own good. They placed a Ford Fiesta higher up their order. That really says everything about their judgement...
Nothing wrong with the Pista, its Evo that needs help! Just as they rated the Pista down in the order, so have I rated the validity of their testing staff and magazine in comparison to the other publications I regularly read.
This is kind of laughable. Just because its a Ferrari doesn't mean its a great drivers car nor does it make it more fun to drive then a car that's a 10th of the price.
True. But if it's good, it's good. PS. I think the price is killing some potential fun in case of Pista. C.Harris mentioned a word or two about tracking a £250k car.
I am not sure about that. I don't believe the EVO staff is as good as they have been in the recent past, but I do respect the driving abilities and perspectives of Bovingdon and Meaden. I would be interested in how they rated the Pista and any comments they made concerning the Pista.
I for one enjoy the qualitative nature of these comparisons whether from magazines or a group drive on a Sunday. Of course, there is no right or wrong answers by definition. Compared to some other test which are mainly concentrating on measuring performance, these subjective discussions can be a good indication of a deeper parts of a car's character. As a future Pista-owner, I would have loved to see only positive reviews but we need to wait for more opinions on whether the car is too clinical. The whole issue of clinical vs too edgy is obviously a subjective matter. The last time I said that he F12tdf was too edgy, I was threatened with physical violence, yet here we are complaining about a magazine saying the Pista is too tame!
The current crop of super cars are all extremely technically competent and advanced which is evidenced by the objective metrics with which they are measured. The substantive differentiators between them are subjective and consequently beyond objective verification. Ultimately, it is precisely these factors that will determine the car of choice. The model that appeals to ones specific preferences and priorities will be the right choice regardless of the opinion expressed by others whether they are deemed "experts", forum posters or friends.
Let's forgive EVO that "contest". Apparently they try to help mclaren with sales. Pista doesn't need such help.
Considering how many people that have/are leaving the F car brand, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss. Mac is absolutely hurting F car sales. Maybe not Pista, but overall yes people are getting tired of the F BS. Now should Pista be 6th place...probably not. Could the 600LT be a better car than Pista, for many yes. However since Pista is a $500K car and 600LT is a $280k+ car it's kinda silly.
Hope someone enjoyed their unplanned three day vacation--I'm sure another is around the corner (just hopefully longer). As to sales figures, I guess forcing buyers to buy unwanted cars (Lusso as pointed out here by several members to be 'worthy' of buying a 6th place Pista) is one way to make sure you hit your numbers. Or you could do it the old fashioned way-- https://blog.dupontregistry.com/mclaren/mclaren-2018-sales/.
Why make an undesirable car that is forced upon buyers of the desirable model. Why not simply make more desirable cars and ultimately sell a greater number of cars or as much as wanted.
Ferrari has announced its total shipments for the first three quarters of 2018. The Maranello-based automaker said it delivered 6 853 vehicles globally in the first nine months of the year, which represented a seven percent increase on the same period in 2017. The brand – which earlier in 2018 appointed Louis Camilleri as its new CEO following the passing of Sergio Marchionne – added that it still expected to ship more than 9 000 units by the end of 2018. In the third quarter, shipments totalled 2 262 units (up 10,6 percent year-on-year), which Ferrari reported was driven by an 11,4 percent increase in sales of its V8-powered models, led by the ramp-up of the Portofino. A 7,9 percent growth in the case of sales of the V12 cylinder models, meanwhile, was largely led by the 812 Superfast but partially offset by lower sales of LaFerrari Aperta that is finishing its limited series run. https://www.carmag.co.za/news/many-cars-ferrari-sold-first-three-quarters-2018/ Ferrari also enjoys the largest profit margin in the whole industry.
Yea they grew and are profitable but missed their numbers. They are a powerhouse of a company, there is no denying it.
I have said this for a while. There are only so many people who are willing to spend $300K+ on cars. Ferrari has owned the market forever but times are changing. I believe it is good for all brands and especially for customers, it will keep them all on their toes.
When someone posts "Ferrari missed their numbers" or something similar, and people on a Ferrari forum - THIS forum, actually press like on that posts, makes me wonder, is mclaren chat that bad? I mean makes sense that on other forums (non ferrari forums) off course a post like that could be liked as there will always be non Ferrari lovers or even haters, but here, it just doesn't make any sense. Shadowfax please help me out here as bullets been shot - it's me vs mclarenowners on a Ferrari forum damn,
You seem to have things confused. No one here hates Ferrari. We actually appreciate it, as we've all owned one (or two) or still do. This is where you confuse us with fanboys of only one brand. IF you actually read the posts you will see that. The one that's twists things is located down under. Point me to the post that says any Mac owner here said they hated Ferrari...go on. Now, some, myself included prefer a different brand today after owning Ferrari. I loved my 458. Amazing car (said that like 100 times--if you actually read posts). I think 720 IS a better (FOR ME--said that too, if you read). I like ALL BRANDS AND CARS. I've owned most of them--so can actually make informed decisions. THAT is where we differ--you and your buddy have not owned a Mac so have no clue if it really is better or not. Maybe it's not--wait for it--that's ok. These are forums. Try and open your eyes that there is NOT one BEST brand. Only a brand that one may prefer over another today. Tomorrow that can change. Something some (yourself included) won't know because you only drink Ferrari Kool Aid. Many on F-chat do have many other brands and love them all equally (look at the banter I had with Mark earlier on Pista--I can't wait to see one in person--and even joked about 720--see it's ok). PS - I think the thread topic is EVO and THEY (not me) said 600LT is #1 and Pista is #6. Do I agree with that. No.
