And don’t forget, you gotta pay a whole lot more for them!

They surely are creating a whole lotta space for the competition below them!

    Sigh.

Ferrari official Pista is 710 hp. Actually they say 530KW which converts to 710.7 mechanical horsepower. So you get a big 9 or 10 hp increase over Pista making it the highest output of its kind of Ferrari engine. A BIG 9 or 10 hp :)

Yes, but that's metric hp they're using, not mechanical. So it's 720 cv.(metric hp)

CV, HP, KW..... How do we know what the system the reported 720 is for the FL? The post here said HP not CV.

Cv is metric horsepower. The unit Ferrari uses. Most European car makers use cv, not hp.

I am aware of that but 720 hp was posted here not cv so staying within that system yields 9-10 hp more. Ferrari will also use KW as in:

    https://488pista.ferrari.com/en-US/technical-specifications/tech-spec

I'm sure its the same actual motor since such a small change would be comical. They are sandbagging on that motor due to the changes they made over the 488. Maybe because of the BB then they will program it to higher values.

They don't care about performance any more. Only the money.

You'll say wait for the BB, but that's twice the price of a 488 at least.

Do you consider the 720 better because it is half or one second quicker than the Pista in the 0-300 kph dash? For real?! Not to mention that the Pista is considerable quicker round a track and has the best turbo engine on sale.

Also, the figures about the upcoming cars are pure conjecture.

I doubt the Pista is considerably quicker around a track...it was 5 seconds slower than the Senna and 3.5 seconds slower than a GT2 RS on the last track test I saw...Not that I care, I ordered a Pista and I am sure I will like it more than my GT2 RS, but I dont think it will beat a 720S with ease...

Also the 720S is meant to be the regular model and I can tell you from experience it is an unbelievable daily driver and better than the stock 488. Let’s wait until the LT is out to compare with the Pista...I have stopped buying McLaren since Shmee got a Senna allocation while dozens of the top McLaren clients were denied one, but I can’t deny they are making progress

You might want to check some other tests then: http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel7218-6633.htm
I am not saying that track times is all that matters, but Ferrari is certainly not falling behind competition in terms or performance.

You should be thankful to ShmeeeXXX that he saved you troubles of being owner of the "Senna". A very bad investment.
Meanwhile let's wait and see how 488 facelift (release 2019) will cope with its competition (720s released in 2017, and 488gtb released in 2015)

You may be right my friend! However I never buy for investment, I always buy to drive and I suspect the Senna is a lot of fun...

If I may ask, what do you think about the rumoured 488's Big Brother ? (The upcoming mid-engined V8 hybrid from Ferrari) Would you be interested in?

100%. My information is that it will be limited though, unlike what people on this thread believe. So it depends on whether Ferrari offer me one. It will be an incredible car

What do you mean by limited? Limited production time a la Pista or limited as in 1 of XXX? Anyway, Ferrari themselves said it's a new model in the standard production MR range, which will be split into two*: top performance vs high performance and fun to drive. No mention of limited availability (in time or quantity).

*Edit: Galliera says "for the first time, at least in our current offer", to quote his own words.

Driver's "unknown" but I'm pretty sure it's someone from Evo since I recognize the 675LT/488GTB lap times.

Thank you. In case the BB will be limited, I wish you to be on the list. I'm looking forward to the reveal in May or so.

    Best regards,

One thing I forgot to add: the products in the presentation were divided into four groups:
    - Sport
    - Gran Turismo
    - Speciel Series (defined as "limited in time and/or volume")
    - Icona

The BB was part of the first group.

I know, I read the same months ago.
Let’s see, I may have the wrong information here. I personally don’t see why Ferrari would launch a regular series mid-engined car 3 months after launching the 488FL and have them both as regular production models. McLaren have 2 mid engined production models but then (1) the 570/600 series is considerably cheaper, more into super-911 territory (2) they don’t have products like the Portofino, Lusso, 812 to compete for customer attention (3) The McLaren cars are not exactly flying out of the showrooms (4) I am not sure there is a great market for cars costing 600k+ (with options) that do not have some exclusivity attached to them (no one has tried that successfully).

I think the current Ferrari lineup is exceptionally well balanced, especially when you consider the upcoming 812 spider and the SUV (FUV?)...Αll they need is a fresh 488 that can compete with the 720 and the rest can be halo cars that enhance the brand.

It will be another fascinating year for Ferrari-watchers...

You’re too kind thank you. Let’s see, there are lots of more important Ferrari clients to give the car to. I also think Ferrari will launch so many exciting cars in the next years, it will be hard for us to decide which one we want more!

Our friend 'Ferr9000' is not saying any more about the car. He surely knows everything and yet he wouldn't. I really want to know if that 720 hp rumor is true or not. :(
